“Nice place to start and end the trek”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

We stayed here the night before starting the W trek, and the staff were very helpful arranging our bus tickets and storing our extra luggage. On the return, we were exhausted and relaxed, had our laundry washed, and wandered around the town. Very good value, we stayed in the downstairs rooms with attached bath, quite comfortable.

this place is great as a before and after stop for Torres Del Paine. we stayed for a couple of nights on either side of the W. The owner Ivan is a brilliant guy, really helpful and will go out of his way to help you with anything you need, give you recommendations and detailed advice on TDP, and also supply you any gear you need. he makes the place (literally, he is constantly building new bits and making improvements, but don't be put off by that). the place is piping hot, which you need, and is well located, and has good social space and kitchen. All in all a great base for TDP.

Slight negatives are that there are not enough bathrooms for the number of bedrooms, so spend the extra on the privado. this is an early rising place with Trekkers setting off early, so bathroom space at a premium from very early in the morning. The rooms are small, in keeping with the typical building of the area, but this is cost rather than cramped.

All in all very good or excellent, but you pay for this.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the privado or you may find yourself tying a knot in it...

I stayed at the hostel with my sister for two nights in Peurto Natales on our way to Torres del Paine. The staff was friendly, and they were great in helping us plan out our trip. We only had two days in the park, and they helped us make the best of it. The showers weren't quite as hot as a hotel, but they sufficed. Overall, a good place to stay if you are budget conscience, and would like a friendly informative place while visiting the national park.

Hard to find a fault with this hostel. They are good English speakers, friendly people, and helpful with bookings, check-in & check out. The web-site is informative. We paid for the en-suite room, which was excellent, very clean and comfy and roomy. There is a large living area upstairs, which is nice and airy, has a fire, TV, two computers, plenty of easy chairs, and the kitchen is excellent. There is also a fridge/freezer for guests, and an area for leaving luggage. We felt really at home, and the extended breakfast from 6.30 - 10.30, with unlimited food, including cereals, wholemeal & white bread was a bonus. The only drawback is that some sound does travel down through the floor to the bedrooms below, so if you are a light sleeper you might want earplugs.

The dorm room is outside the main building. That's very nice, because in the main building besides the kitchen it can be a little noise in the morning or between 23:00 - 24:00.

The beds where one of the best I had during my trip. It's also a very good place for getting information about hiking around "Torres del Paine"

After staying in fantastic America del Sur Hostel in El Calafate, Argentina, this place certainly was a major let down. When we rolled up outside the hostel, it looked good but the surrounding dwellings made us feel very uneasy and nervous about leaving our hire car in the street. See my photo of what's right next door! The 'couldn't care less' attitude of the young man and, later on, the young woman at the front desk and the very ordinary and dreary bunk bed plus single bed room with its narrow window that looks onto a side alley made us very glad that this was only a one night stay. Maybe we just struck it unlucky! As we were leaving the hostel, we spotted a double bedroom that looked a lot nicer than the 'hole in the wall' that we got. The upstairs breakfast and lounge area was bright and cheerful looking and the breakfast on offer was good but this couldn't make up for our depressing little room, the service we received from the front desk staff and the unsafe looking surroundings in which the hostel is located..

For a hostel the rooms are very comfy, some with bathrooms - more like a cosy posada for couples. The staff were great, polite and enthusiastic, giving us lots of tips and help organising our trip to Torres del Paine. We rented here quite good gear and got info on where to get best supplies in town.
Do prepare for an early start as you can hear everything from the kitchen/breakfast room above the rooms - no problem on your way to Torres but when we got back we could have done with a long lay in!
