“Be prepared to be covered in salt!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Laguna Cejar is definitely a must-do if visiting San Pedro de Atacama, simply for the novelty of bobbing around in the extremely salty water. The water is a little chilly, but refreshing. Unless you enjoy hanging out the rest of the day with salt crusted all over your body, bring fresh water and a towel to rinse off with. The salt content is no joke. There aren't areas to change or rinse off, so be prepared. Paying for a tour isn't necessary, as other reviewers have noted, it's a short car ride and close enough to reach on a bike and the entry fee is only $2.000 pesos.

“Fantastic experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The Leguna Cejar is a wonderful experience and a must-do if you are in San Pedro de Atacama!! It is amazing being able to float with no effort at all. Be sure not to put your head under the water as the salt concentration is high and really stings in the throat and nostrils. It's not necessary to take a tour as you can just drive and bathe yourself with your own/a rented car. It is a small fee - around 2,000 Chilean pesos to enter the National Park but well worth it. Be sure to bring lots of sunblock and fresh water to wash the salt off your body after the swim.

“Similar to swimm at Dead sea”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012 via mobile

If you're at South America and wants to have the experience at Dead Sea, Cejar is a very similar alternative. Salt concentration is somehow lower, but you float almost like in Israel. Besides the famous mud at Dead sea, here your feet fells salt, like stones.
The flamencos flying over you is a nice add.
