We booked the 3 hour afternoon ride through villages and rice paddies while still at home. Every email was returned very expediently and our questions were answered in enough detail.
The 3 pm time slot was perfect. It was not too hot and there was a gentle breeze. Do make sure that you use a good quality sun screen at the sun initially is still quite strong.
I had not been on a horse for years and even in my younger days have not been a very accomplished rider. The horses are in excellent condition and were matched perfectly to the rider's ability - none in my son's case. Our guide, Lucy, was excellent in making him comfortable with his horse. He is not a big risk taker. However, by the end of the ride, he was confident enough to trot a bit. He had a great time. My horse understood English all too well. When Lucy asked my son if he wanted to trot, my horse, L.A. did not need any encouragement, off he went on a gentle trot. It was quite funny.
Lucy gave us a lot of good information about horses, culture, etc. Also appreciated.
I have often been hesitant to hire horses, but these horses are well cared for , well loved. Before we had even washed our hands, the saddles were off and the horses got a shower! It is not inexpensive, but I rather pay a bit more and know that I have a nice, happy, well cared for horse underneath me.
Highly recommend this activity.
