Angkor Village has two properties - 1. the Resort on the edge of town nearer Angkor; 2. the Hotel, in town on Wat Bo Road (other side of the river from the Old Market)
You can't fault the way the hotel looks - beautiful wooden buildings interconnected with the lake in the middle.
The rooms were variable in that the ground floor ones were all glass and unless you keep the curtains drawn the whole time anyone can look in (honeymooners, be sure to ask for the top floor!). I had a standard room and it was dark and quite small, not encouraging you to spend a hell of a lot of time there. I presume the 'deluxe' are airier and better quality
Service: The ladies were great and tried to help with everything from advising on how much to pay the drivers to booking flights and giving directions. Don't expect perfect and English and they are rather shy, so be gentle!
Location; I liked the fact it was in an unpresuming road downtown - it is a 5/10 minute walk to the old market and 'gringo town' where you can get the internet, English books, cafes etc, and it is not on the 'Las Vegas' strip of deluxe hotels. It means that you have to walk for your dinner if you are not eating in the hotel but good for wrking up an appetite. It was very safe walking around at night by myself. You can always jump on a motorbike/ tuk tuk for a dollar if you don't feel like walking.
