“Love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2007

We loved this place. We went around various hotels in Siem Reap and found a lot of bad values but this one was the real deal of a beautiful boutique hotel for under $100.

The room, buildings and pool were lovely. The only disadvantage we found was that there weren't any good restaurants nearby, and there were lines for the rather pricey internet.

I would definitely rec this to anyone going to Siem Reap.

  • Liked — Room Decoration, Pool, Cambodian Feel
  • Disliked — Food choices, lack of internet access

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2006

Our travel agent recommended Hanuman and my husband and I really enjoyed our 4 night stay. Siem Reap was our first stop in Cambodia and this hotel felt like a little oasis.
The staff were friendly and attentive, the furnishing was lovely, they've made the most of a boutique hotel with loads of greenery and style. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. We had a few meals here and the food was very good. They have a little library where you can read books about the Angkor temples - very useful if you don't want to buy them! My favorite area was around the pool which feels like you're in a rain forest it's so dense with beautiful plants. As a guest you get free access to the Sokha Hotel's gym and swimming pool - only a short walk away.
Because the air con requires the room key card to activate, our room became warm while we were out, then took some time to cool down again, then it was too cold. You just need to be a little vigilent with the temperature control. Only the guest rooms are air conditioned, so all the other public areas - including where you dine - are subject to the heat and humidity. We didn't mind this, but it's something to keep in mind. While the pool was attractive, it was too shallow to properly swim in. I suppose it was just to cool off. The shower was a bit weak and the walls were tiled in a horrible pink - this could be updated, but overall the decor was good. The hotel is not within walking distance to anywhere interesting, but we easily hailed a tuk tuk to various restaurants for only $1-2 USD each way.

  • Liked — The overall decor and cosy oasis feel
  • Disliked — The bathroom was dark and needs updating
  • Tips/Secrets — Remove your shoes before going upstairs - it keeps the wood floors much cleaner.

Nice guesthouse with antiques and traditionnal decoration. Nice rooms with private bathroom, no view. Breakfast is served upstairs, rooms on that floor can be noisy. Small but nice swimming pool, and small sun deck, just 4 chairs. The guesthouse guests can use the Sofitel amazing pool for free. SPA is just ok. great location to temples visits, just 5 min tuk-tuk to center city.
