“Couldn't be better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

We stayed here at the end of our visit to Cambodia and couldn't have wished for a better way to finish! Lovely surroundings, beautiful room, excellent cuisine (breakfast and dinner) and a delightful staff who couldn't have done more for us. Try the foot massge - I did! The hotel is on the edge of town which was easily accessible with a tuk tuk ($2-3). The peace and quiet were very welcome - even the monkeys enjoyed it!

we have just left this exquisite hotel, staying there after a bush experience in northern Cambodia. it is my experience that the very best of places combine a beautiful environment with an exceptional staff, and this hotel has both. Located on a side street a bit north of the central area the rooms can almost dissuade you from going out they are so beautiful and quiet, the ions from the many water features and the pools relax you utterly, we never felt the need to stray from the restaurant because every dish was excellently prepared. But there is more, the spa therapists worked out all the soreness from days at the temples, the hotel arranged a guide who not only had the history of the place down, but was able to steer us away from the crowds so making our experience quiet And contemplative instead of a madhouse of trampling feet and picture taking. But the concierge and restaurant staff were really the face of the place. we had a romantic supper for two which the staff set up for us, with a notable menu, sparkling candles all over, in a tower overlooking the property. wear your best and renew your love if you are a couple. It was great! On the boulevard are bigger more famous places, but no way the ambience of the hanunmanalaya! thank you and namaste to the whole staff!

My family and I spend a week before Christmas 2013 in this peaceful boutique hotel. We had good equipped room which smelled like a very exquisite SPA with comfortable beds and free WiFi. The hotel itself is so charming with all the figurines, pictures and lotus flowers, pleasing he eyes and giving an authentic Cambodian atmosphere. All staff without exception was polite, helpful and tried to make our stay as easy and peasant, as possible. Breakfast was simple, but very nourishing. Eggs in every possible variation, yummy croissants, fruits, yoghurt, müsli and really good coffee, (last served even before morning birds start to sing - my husband was getting up before official breakfast time and he always got his first cup of coffee served with smile). We enjoyed happy hours at early evenings and dinners, cooked so tasty that often we did not wanted to go elsewhere to eat.

All in all, we would recommend HanumanAlaya as the base for your exploring tours in Siam Reap.

HanumanAlaya is a very nicely decorated and appointed boutique hotel just outside the Siem Reap city center (a 5 or 10 minute tuk-tuk ride), with a truly charming Cambodian atmosphere, a staff that could not be more friendly and helpful (they speak English fairly well), and a very good on site restaurant with both Khmer cuisine and continental dishes so you don't have to go downtown every night. Especially after a long day of sight seeing, you may just want to shower and come down for a nice meal. Our room was spacious and comfortable (with a quiet air conditioner). The pool is nice, though we didn't use it. The little spa was very warm and inviting and the massage therapists were awesome. We've had massages many places in the world, and these were among the best we've ever had -- similar to Thai massage, with its emphasis on pressure points and some stretching. A huge plus is that the hotel has an arrangement with an exceptionally helpful tuk-tuk driver, Mr. Ral, who also speaks English pretty well and knows how to organize your visits to the ruins, the "floating village" on Tonle Sap Lake, and local spots of interest. My wife and I will never forget the morning he took us to Ta Prohm before dawn, and we walked into the jungle with a flash light, into the ruins which the jungle has largely taken over. No one came for about an hour, and it was a magical experience as the dawn broke and the jungle came alive. This is a rare experience in a place which normally has so many tourists (thank you Mr. Ral !!!). The front desk was very helpful with every detail, and I would say the week we spent at HanumanAlaya was the highlight of our month long trip to Asia. I can recommend the hotel without reservation, and we would certainly stay there again on a return trip. There is an old 5 star hotel built by the French, and there are a few big 4-4.5 star hotels on the short road to the city center, but for value, comfort, decor, service, and local flavor, this hotel can't be beat.

We stayed a week at Hanuman Alaya at the start of a 5 week journey and loved it. It is very peaceful and was like a sanctuary. Each morning we went to Angkor Wat and different temples with the hotel's moto-rickshaw driver Chettra at 7am. Breakfast was at 6am and very good. We would come back around noon and mostly stay at the hotel. The decor is gorgeous with so many artifacts, fresh flowers, and beautiful artifacts. The rooms are large, bed comfortable, perfect. We stayed on the top floor and liked that. The pool area is also very soothing and aesthetic. I swam every day in the pool (very small) but really nice to be in . Had 2 foot massages which were great especially after all the walking we did every day. The staff were so kind and gracious. We went to Laos, Vietnam and Thailand as well and I have to say the staff at this hotel and the other Cambodian people we met were so sweet and nice. I wish we could go back tomorrow. I will be recommending this hotel to everyone going. We ate at the hotel most nights and avoided pub street but did go into town to eat a few times. They also have a happy hour. Absolutely loved Hanuman Alaya. It met all my expectations and more. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hanumanalaya boutique hotel. The staff were very polite and the rooms were well kept and comfortable. The hotel is in a quite location away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area but within easy reach by tuk tuk and also on the road to the main temple area. The reservation manager was very helpful booking tours for us according to our requirements and always replied promptly. We would definitely stay again if we visit Siem Reap.

The second you walk into this place, you just say "wow". While not like the five star hotels down that street, there is a certain charm about this place with its colonial design. The staff is extremely helpful and the tuk tuk drivers they have on stand by are probably the friendliest in town. One guy we had even drove back to a restaurant in another part of town to pick up my wife's hat without us even asking to do it. Odds are you will go to pub street each night and this certainly isnt walking distance so you will need to take a tuk tuk for about 3 bucks each way. But the room is beautifully furnished, air con works great, bed comfy and plenty of channels on the TV if you are staying in for the night. Would definitely stay here again.
