Overall this hotel is quite good and while it has room for improvement it is worth considering. It is well located to the main shopping activities with a quick tuk tuk ride or casual walk to take you to the restaurants at night. Generally the staff are quite friendly and attentive to your needs. The room we had was quite large, well serviced and comfortable.
The pool area as shown on the website is visually attractive with ample seating and shade. Breakfast is nothing particularly special and perhaps a little disappointing for a hotel of this calibre. Similarly the restaurant dining is expensive and not that impressive. Personally I would go out for dinner rather than eat at the hotel. Admittedly the alternative restaurant and bar were closed for 'renovation' code for low season in Cambodia, so there was a limited choice but I suspect it would have been much the same. The poolside menu could also do with some revision and greater variety.
Unfortunately there was some misunderstanding with our booking which was acknowledged as an error on their part. The description of the room we had booked directly with them apparently does not exist. It seems there is an error on their website. We were suitably compensated by complimentary breakfast throughout our stay.
Having said that we had on numerous occasions prior to departure tried to confirm the room details by email. The response was often not forthcoming or in cryptic English. We finally gave up.
I doubt we would stay there again having checked out The Raffles and having stayed at their sister property in Phnom Penh. However, if you are on a budget and want a comfortable place to relax then perhaps this will be suitable.
Siem Reap must also be struggling with maintaining its infrastructure. For the week we were here we had a minimum of three power outages every night. Minor hassle unless you are in the lift at the time. Just have a torch with you.
