This hotel really is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. The architecture is absolutely beautiful! Amazing columns in the entrance, really unusual hanging tables and chairs in the restaurant, lovely pool, cute little booths to sit in the shade... I stayed in one of the suites in the garden which had an outdoor courtyard with a tub - the suite itself was a good size, though not enormous. Giant comfy bed, ipod and speakers, dvd player, huge walk in rainfall shower. The spa was fantastic, great treatments, lovely staff - I absolutely adored it!

The thing that will remain with me most about the Hôtel de la Paix is the absolutely gorgeous jasmine scent that wafts through the air there. Some friends who went there on our recommendation actually bought some of it back with them! That said, the hotel is also stunning visually. We were upgraded to an amazing room, which had massage tables on the mezzanine and a terrace with an outdoor tub. Plus, we couldn't have been treated better. It was my partner's birthday during our stay and he was presented with a cake and flowers at breakfast. There was this really amazing Japanese woman there, who brought all the refinement of her home country. Apart from that, there were a few tiny hitches in the service, but then this is Cambodia and not California. And the staff were so wonderfully charming that it really didn't matter. While there, we arranged visits to the temples through the hotel. We felt that we were given really good advice and although the prices were probably a fortune in local terms, they seemed really reasonable compared to what we'd paid for similar trips in Vietnam. Otherwise, we liked lazing on the big sofas in the bar and we liked the meals on the patio (the food was really good and the way that they bring coca-cola in carafes is a very elegant touch). We also liked the pool and we absolutely loved the music on the iPods in the rooms. So much so that we copied the tracks and now listen to them every morning at home in Paris over breakfast. The tunes bring back memories of a wonderful stay in a wonderful hotel... that we've already recommended to a number of friends.

This hotel is beautifully designed. It takes elements of the Cambodian culture and adds a modern twist. The staff were always very friendly and helpful.
Angkor is just an incredible site - I first visited in 2001 and a second visit did not disappoint - the place never fails to take my breath away!
The Hotel de la Paix was a wonderful place to start the day with an amazing breakfast and then a real retreat to return to after a day exploring on the back of a motorbike.

I stayed at Hotel de la Paix in 2006 and still think of going back. My adult son and I combined Cambodia with a trip to Thailand. The service was spectacular. The pool area was the best I've seen within a city. It was private and really fun. There is a small gym right off the pool area. With great room service at the pool, you can stay all day.

I was stunned by how wonderful the breakfast was. There was attention to every detail. There is a breakfast bar that has great yogurt, baked goods, fruit salad that we helped ourselves to. Once we'd done that, a waiter came to take our order for our hot food. Eggs Benedict anyone? The seating was around the pool, unless of course you wanted to lay on the two person hammock and be served there. How fun that was. The breakfast was so good that we decided to have dinner at the hotel one night. It was a total splurge as it was expensive, but we heard that the chef was a pro. We ordered the tasting menu, and while the dishes were quite small, each was better than the last. We've eaten all over the world and put that dinner in our top 10.

The hotel was very helpful in obtaining a guide and driver. I'll post some pictures as the hotel is stunning. They really know how to create great welcoming spaces.
