I knew from all the photos taken by guests on Trip Advisor that the Park Hyatt hotel in Siem Reap was going to be amazing. Normally traveller's photos show all the imperfections but there wasn't one in the hundreds online. And I was not disappointed! The hotel is perfect in every small detail. And I was completely enthralled and inspired by Bill Bensley's architecture and interior design. To be honest, it was the hotel that sold Siem Reap to us! Of course Siem Reap is one of this world's most precious jewels with the incredible temples, but to come home to the hotel at the end of a long day was wonderful. Every single staff member was so friendly and welcoming. And the location! It is in the heart of the action so everything is a short stroll away, but it is completely silent and peaceful inside. I truly can't recommend this hotel and it's beautiful staff highly enough.

We stayed 4days at Park Hyatt. We have had too many nice experiences. Below are a few:-

1. The experience whilst waiting to be checked in was awesome. You are led into a lounge that's immaculately designed, seated at ease, given a menu to order your welcome drink (not the standard green tea or such) and really comfy chairs. Definitely luxurious!

2. The room has a big and cushy sofa, bluetooth connection for music/movies, a spacious bathroom that's very uniquely designed.

3. On the 2nd last day, we wanted to visit some poor villages to distribute food which we bought from the local supermarkets as well as some clothing, there was this staff (his name started with 'S' we cannot recall his exact name but it sounded like Sachrthon or something along this), he gave such excellent and precise advice and helped to also direct the tuktuk drivers that they knew exactly where to bring us to and helped us differentiate those villagers in need of our blessings from the others.

4. The pool was nice - on one side there was shelter and the other was meant for sun tanning - could cater to either people who liked the sun or not!

5. The ala carte breakfast was delicious. They cater to special orders as best as they can - some of the food may not be cooked to your usual liking - for eg one of the egg dishes had a shriveled chicken sausage, but other than that, everything else was alright. The fruit bowl has a great choice of fruits. And to have our meals on the swing bed was haven :)

6. Location is awesome, just 5 mins walk away from the old, central and night markets!!

We felt the wifi connection could be better improved - it was interrupted many times just like some of the reviews here pointed out - could be due to the fact that the access was granted the moment we were picked up by the hotel transfer..

Also, the fruits in the room were not replaced which we thought they would be - they weren't expensive or a lot, just a handful of longans, rambutans and mini bananas, would be great if the hotel takes this into consideration.

P.S: if there was a response to this review, we hope to know the name of the staff in point 3 above - unfortunately he is off duty on the day we checked out and we couldn't write him a letter of appreciation.

Room 221, checked out on 30 July

Room Tip: We would for sure return to this hotel ;-)

Park Hyatts are smaller in scale than their "Grand" and "Regency" piers but no less stylistic and impressive and the one in Siem Riep deserves this title. It is a joy to enter and appreciate, like an art gallery or an award winning interior design centre. I wondered who the design team was but they deserve an award. Whether it be the reception room where you are made comfortable whilst checking in or the dinning room with its straight lines cleverly broken by curves of and colours. The food there was good too. The a la carte breakfast is not cheap but well presented and chosen but the five-course Cambodian dinner to accompany the dancers on Friday night was as entertaining and enjoyable as the artists. Pity the seating outside was not plentiful enough for us to enjoy both our meal and the entertainment at the same time.

The Glasshouse patisserie is great too and the ice cream delicious. Really a place to while away in and relax whilst watching the street life roll or stroll by. Everywhere you go, beauty is there to behold. The attention to detail and compatibility is amazing. Our room was very comfortable too, although the bed was too small for us with our skinny eight year old. The internet reception was very poor, despite the separate router installed in the room.

Service everywhere was very good and genuinely attentive. Including the Hyatt's own tuk-tuk drivers that we can highly recommend you take out to the temples - a safe and original experience! By the way the pools were very pleasant too.

It's difficult to find anything to complain about and there is little incentive to do so. try it out and we doubt you'll be disappointed.

Room Tip: Inward looking rooms more attractive than the street.

Dear Roger P,

Greetings from Siem Reap and thank you for taking the time to share your positive stay feedback with all followers of Trip Advisor.

We deeply appreciate your feedback which I can assure you has been shared with the entire hotel team. Noted too, to your not so positive remarks in relation to some of our charges (breakfast) and appreciate your being so candid. I can assure you that we conducted a detailed investigation into the 5 star hotel market here in Siem Reap and feel that our prices sit comfortably within it and for what we have to offer.

Great that you enjoyed the Glasshouse… The latter we are trying to make less of a secret to all visitors to Siem Reap be-they hotel guests of ours or not!!

I trust you are well and please do let me know if you plan to return to Siem Reap so that I can personally assist you.

Best regards,

Sholto

What makes a great hotel is the staff and all the staff from the front desk to breakfast and dinner were very courteous and worked hard at making sure we had a wonderful stay in Siem Reap. After touring all day my wife and I only wanted a great shower, cool room, comfortable bed and good food. We found them all at the Part Hyatt. The bonus is the location, right in the heart of Siem Reap.

Room Tip: Choose a room viewing the court yard.

I have stayed at the best hotels around the world and have only written a couple of reviews on trip advisor. My last one was also a Park Hyatt (well it is an amazing brand with the best hotels) in the Maldives just 3 months ago.
My wife and I went for a long weekend to the Park Hyatt in Siem Reap in early July. Our experience right from booking (on line with an amazing 3 nights for 2 rate), getting all the required information (visa, pick up etc) before we left Sydney, being picked up at the airport, check in and the entire stay was all amazing and no complaints at all. Plus given I used to be a diamond member the GM was kind enough to upgrade us to a beautiful room.
Hotel: The location in the city is great. Easy to get to airport and temples but also great to walk to all the small local city markets and shops too. Beautiful building and very well maintained.
Room: We got the best room I think in the house (well I cannot say for sure but I would definitely go again if guaranteed that room) - Room 138. It is a park suite but the benefit is that the room opens into a private undercover balcony that has its own stairs and private access into the outdoor swimming pool which is just amazing and no words I can write would do it justice
Welcome drink: Have the passionfruit martini ... fantastic and the best way to start the stay
Tuk tuks: The hotel has commissioned a few select tuk tuks to service guests. You pay directly to the driver - is US$16 per day. But the tuk tuks have the colour scheme of the Park Hyatt and the drivers are great. Mr Hak #3 was amazing and could sense when we are coming out of buildings to drive up to us instead of waiting for us to look for him
Cambodian food is great and the hotel has a nice menu. The staff were great too.
The hotel also organizes nice visits both through the hotel and external vendors. We went on a sunset cruise of the floating markets which was great too.
Anyway, was an excellent visit and a must stay at hotel and we will go for sure again.

Room Tip: Room 138 - as explained above has an excellent private balcony leading to the pool. All rooms I have...
