Lovely stay at La paix. This hotel is a real achievement for an area with little or no infrastructure, and is an oasis of peace and calm in the middle of a hectic (and very very hot) town.
The room was excellent with fantastic huge granite bath open to the bedroom. Lovely toiletries in pots, refilled daily, good rain shower. Sofa area, desk area, well lit room , ipod docking station and millions of tv channels. Beautiful lotus flowers in room on arrival (although not replenished after that)

I wasn't oversold on the bar area - has an art type gallery in the middle which I felt made it a bit like a school assembly hall rather that somewhere you wanted to go for a drink. Spent half an hour here while waiting for the room on day one and didn't feel particularly at home in it - didn't have any atmosphere. We would usually have a few drinks in a hotel bar but weren't tempted here.

Reception area also a bit out of the way. Internet access on each floor very welcome.

Pool area very lovely to look at - we never used it but I suspect it could get busy. Nice sala type beds to lounge on looked nice.

Lots of cool and trendy things around hotel - the room numbers by your door, the statues in the hallways, the hammocks where you could have a meal, the flowers in the lift etc etc

Only had breakfast in the dining room - I thoroughly enjoyed it- best fresh fruit I have ever tasted and beautifully displayed. Hot food cooked to order, sparkling wine, and bloody marys there if you want them. Very relaxed and certainly beats the old scrum at some hotel buffet brekkys.

Had a snack sandwich lunch in hotel cafe and it was very tasty.

Great location if you want to be within easy walking distance to bars and restaurans - Pub Street etc. We ate out every night and enjoyed the Red Piano for Thai curries, Kama Sutra for excellent Indian and Khmer Kitchen. Lunch in Blue Pumpkin -lovely sandwiches and patisserie. Saw Apsara in Temple Bar - can do this while having a drink if you want -don't have to have a meal. Also drink at sort of club called Sok San which was a bit of people watching fun. Also had foot massage at Dr Feet opposide Blue Pumpkin and at place across from hotel.

Also good location for market - just across the road.

Didn't use hotel for trips as thought it was a bit expensive

Great stay, loved the opportunity to see Angkor and other sites before they get spolied, eat great food, do a bit of shopping and learn about this incredible country.

Loved the Hotel De La Paix. It's fun, cool, modern, and new. From the moment of check-in on a couch in the very slick bar, the hotel impresses. The rooms are comfortable & stylish, complete with ipod & docking station (although the rooms are small). The bathroom is great, with a big-headed rain shower. A word of warning - the bathroom opens to the bedroom via a big sliding window...you need to be very close friends with your traveling companion! The air conditioning works a treat for those hot Cambodia summers.

The pool is large and has plenty of shaded seating (and the staff will provide you insect repellent at dusk).

But the highlight is the restaurant. Fantastic mod-Cambodian food (set menu with matching wines, or a la carte). This was far & away our best food experience in Cambodia. The breakfasts are tasty and can be taken sitting on a swinging seat/table (think double bed hanging on ropes from the ceiling). Fun!

The hotel is nice and in a great location, for sure. The rooms were perfectly fine, mosquitoes not as bad as for some others, and the restaurant is fabulous. Some problems though - for starters, 2 of the days we were there the water that came out of the faucet and shower was BROWN. Not like a little, but like sewage brown. They fixed it, but we had to use the spa shower one day. Second, do not, I repeat, do not under any circumstances let the hotel book your tour for you. Go directly to the tour guides and drivers and you will save a lot of money. I recommend overall if you are going for a few days, but bear in mind that this hotel preys on tourists with no Cambodia experience, and we certainly fell victim a few times.

It was really great, but our least favorite hotel of the 3 we stayed in (but the others were fabulous so hard to compete - Peninsula BKK and Anantara Golden Triangle). The service was great but not quite up to par of the other two; I think that maybe just Siem Reap in general. Nice breakfast buffet but hot items needed to be ordered off the menu (though incl.). Just takes a bit more time then getting everything off the buffet so need to plan time accordingly in the morning.

The rooms were very nice but we did find the beds very hard (even I noticed it as soon as I layed down, and I usually don't notice those types of things, though my hubby does). Some of the nicest hallways I've seen. A computer on every floor which we often found available. We were travelling with our kids (ages 12 and 15). We had two rooms that were next to each other with a small foyer and another door so we were able to keep our room doors open to each other, but there was another door to close off to the hallway.

It is in an excellent location right in the heart of town just a few blocks walk to Pub St. and Old Market. For the record, despite the traffic noise in the town, we never noticed it anywhere in the hotel.

We did encounter some mosquitoes in the room.

The architecture is very cool and hip, done quite nicely although I didn't really get the large art gallery in the middle of the lobby. The pool is nice with some of the most relaxing pool chairs as they are nicely padded and quite wide. They also have some bed type things but they are covered and kind of dark. My one complaint was just that this was definitely more of a city hotel when it came to the pool area, not a lot of room and no view to look out on. Not a fault of the hotel, I just think I would have rather stayed in a place with a bit more space when it came to relaxation/down time. The rest of the fam disagreed and said they would still pick HDLP.

Hotel is boutique hotel. Stayed in this hotel on our honeymoon. It was only fab ! stayed in Poolside suite. Large room, big bed, with bath in the middle of the floor which was different and was used. Could watch TV from the bath which gave us a laugh if nothing else. Hotel situated in the middle of the town. Off the beaten track as regards where other big brand American hotels are ( mostly on one stretch of road). Leaving your hotel you come out into dusty, bustling street. For us we enjoyed it as got us into the heart of things as the locals live but having the comfort of the hotel close by.
Must try ... dinner in hotel restaurant. Had dinner of a bed hung by ropes to the ceiling ...very different dining experience. We ate the Vietnamese tasting menu 8 courses I think, food was delicious !
Watched local dancing by kids from an orphanage which was really nice.
Only small downside is the sun partially gets into the outdoor area/sunbeds with the way the courtyard of the hotel is built. Staff very friendly. Has DVD facility, has The Killing Fields DVD if that would be of interest to you given the history of the place. Overall lovely place, would definitely staff again.
