Peace of Angkor Siem Reap: Recommended to us by a friend, the service we received before we even came to the Peace was great. They picked us up for free at the bus station (although it wasn't a car it was a tuk tuk). We received a deluxe hotel room, although I think that only meant it was larger (we didn't need that much space). The room itself was fine. There wasn't an in room safe, but the a/c worked fine. We were not given bottles of water in our room, but could request them free of charge. For our first two nights our water heater did not work so we had to take cold showers. When we complained on the morning after our second night and we asked to be compensated by a late check-out the following day (5pm) they said that was okay (the hotel was no where near capacity). We also had to change rooms for our third and final night because they booked our room to someone else. The funny thing is, is that they moved us to a room right next door that was exactly the same except it had an additional twin bed (so it could sleep three people); this room was available all three nights we were there so it is too bad they never suggested we could just stay in that room and not be inconvenienced to move. The other disadvantage of the Peace is that it is in the middle of nowhere. We had to drive to restaurants, and even if we wanted to walk somewhere we couldn't because the dirt (or mud) roads had huge holes in them filled with rain water; maybe in the dry season it would be more feasible. But it isn't close enough to walk to the market area which is where most of the restaurants, internet cafes, and shopping is. So we paid $3 each night to go there. We ate one meal in the hotel and it was okay, not horrible but not worth doing again. We were also required to take our shoes off at the front door of the lobby. I wouldn't have minded so much if they bothered to keep the floors clean; there was always a bit of dirt on the ground walking to/from our room on the second floor. This was also the only hotel we paid for that did not include breakfast which we thought was absolutely silly considering the price and location. The only main positive of this hotel was the service. Everyone was always friendly and nice, and they arranged transportation for us whenever we needed it. However, I would only give a recommendation to someone telling them all this, and we would not stay there again if back in Siem Reap. For the ~ $30 we paid, you can probably do better in Siem Reap.

I am sorry to hear that rock2000 was disappointed in the location, shower and room changes. If the problem with the shower had been told to us earlier we would have immediately rectified. We only ask guests to change rooms as a last resort.
The road to the villa was being worked on and due to rain; it was left in a bad state for a few weeks; it was completed in October 06.
Khmer food is not always to Western taste and can be bland compared to Thailand. I am not an enthusiast for Khmer food; but we do put it on the menu to give choice. If anyone doesn't like a meal we will always try and resolve amicably.
If we are not told about a problem at the time then we cannot resolve it!
