We stayed 4 nights in this superbly located hotel. It is near the center, along the the river, far away from the horrible hotel road where all the new big resorts are opening. Overall, the hotel is charming, and the staff are always welcoming you with a smile. The rooms are large and relatively comfortable. The most notable part is the restaurant, Very nicely decorated and excellent Khmer food. Surprisingly good wine selection for cheaper than back home!!
The bad: Hard to get a good night sleep. On two nights it seemed they were slaughtering dogs around the corner (Chinese or Korean restaurants??). The howling was attrocious! On another night, there was a wedding in a building next door. The music was playing at 150db at least, but was done around midnight. Finally, the hotel is working together with the transportation/guide mafia! You WILL pay a premium if you get a driver through them. We used street hired tuck-tucks for the Angkor complex at $10/day, and hired a car on 1 day to see the furthest ones. Skip the floating villages. It's a $20 government sponsored scam!!
I should mentions that someone tried our door knob around midnight once... Maybe a confused guest. What did surprise me was that there was no additional lock on the inside of the room. So anyone with a room key would be able to enter anytime.
Enjoy the great temples of Angkor while it lasts!
