Khemara is rather avarage hotel. I recommend it to people, who seeks comfortalbe hotel to spend a night, eat a breakfast and go out (and not spend too much). Rooms are spacious, quite clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel interior and lobby are ugly and dark. The hotel has absolutely no vibe and personality. The pool is just avarage. That is why, if you want to have a hotel in Siem Reap, where you can spend more time and chiil out during a day or evening, I suggest to look somewere else.

We stayed there from 31 May to 2nd June 2009 in two rooms. When we came in at around 6pm the lobby lights were off! We were the only guests! Then in the night a group of Australians came in. People are very friendly and the stay was comfortable except for one hitch. From India we had arranged for a pick up and drop to Piopet at 120US. We were picked up by a friendly driver but the night before we left they demanded 200US even though they had confirmed 120 by email. I had to take a cab from outside. Cambodia is still not very tourist friendly and if one is not careful will be taken for a ride. Very much like in India. Kishore Menon, Chennai, India (kishoremenon2009@gmail.com)

The hotel was very expensive and not necessarily look like what you see on their website. I regretted booking Khemera Angkor Hotel. It was touted to be a 4 star hotel on the Air Asia website but hardly befitted 3 stars. The room was just standard (even though the staff said it was a deluxe) and the pool was tiny. The hotel is badly lit at night and their corridors are dark (to save electricity). Their buffet breakfast was only so so. It cost a hefty RM225 per night on the Net and when we asked for another room, they wanted to charge us USD120 (RM420)! Their van driver who picked us up from the airport also tried to push us to take up their van for USD40 for one day to Angkor. Also, he was quite rude to our tour guide who came to pick us up for the whole day (for only USD25 - sunrise to sunset). We felt conned because a Singaporean couple told us when we were touring Angkor that they were staying in a 4 star hotel for only USD40. We checked out to another nearby comparable hotel for only USD15 per night!

We stayed at the Khemara Hotel as part of a package tour. If we 'd had a choice, I would have probably chosen a different hotel. But Khemara hotel isn't a bad option for a couple of nights. The rooms are huge and very clean. Most of the staff speak decent English and are helpfull. The pool is pretty small, but it's a great place to relax after touring the temples. We had dinner at the hotel on our first night there, and the food was pretty good - but you're better off eating out in town, it's cheaier and there's more choice.

The only complaint I have about this hotel is breakfast. After reading the reviews on tripadviser, I was anticipating a good breakfast, but on our first morning I was suprised to find that all they had was eggs and a small selection of breads and fruit. I think that this was due to the fact that we were there off-season and the hotel was less then half full. On our secnd morning there, though, the breakfast was completely different, with a much larger choice of food, and as good as most of the previous reviews say. So we were probably just unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time :) But it only lasted for one day.

Overall, Khemara hotel is as good a place as any to stay at while seeing the temples. Most of the hotels in Siem Reap - apart from a number of the more expensive ones - seem pretty much the same - from the outside at least, so it really looks as if there's not much difference where to stay. If you're looking for a clean room and a nice pool to relax at in the heat, you won't be dissapointed by the Khemara.

Stayed here on my last night in Cambodia and was so glad I did. It's clean, nicely decorated and spacious. Breakfast was very good. Didn't bother to go out at all as the room was so comfortable.

  • Liked — Everything except the massage
  • Disliked — The masseuse couldn't stop talking to each other while we had the massage
