This place is easy to confuse with the other "chateaus", "residences" and "D'angkors", and their signage is not clear yet.
Brand new, mid-size faux colonial style, it sits right behind the Royal Palace directly across the leafy street from Casa Hotel.
I turned up having booked on Agoda minutes before, coming in dusty from Battambang, and looking for a nice place with a pool at a reasonable price. For $48 plus tax i got an excellent deal which included a very good fully cooked breakfast ( eggs, bacon, hash browns, tomato with pesto, lovely bakery basket, juice and really excellent coffee). Chef brought it out to my table and i felt this was a great touch. Maybe the morning paper would have been the only addition, but i'm nitpicking.
Rooms are huge suites: include a kitchen with oven and stove, washing machine, fridge, lounge area with tv, big balcony, separate bedroom with massive king bed (firm very comfy and but not bonecracking like most Cambodia beds), bathroom with tub and separate shower. Brand spanking new and clean. Really terrific for a family too, or longer term guests because of the convenience of fully equipped kitchen and laundry.
10 minute walk to pub street, and easy tuk tuk. Mid size but lovely pool out back under large trees made for a superb early morning swim - not many guests up and about at that time so i had the pool to myself for some lazy laps. It was bliss.
best of all was the service: the staff so friendly and helpful - i asked for the tv to be moved to the bedroom, and a few other small things i needed they were instantly at my door to help out. Manager was incredibly helpful, showed me everything i needed to know and made me feel very comfortable.
Because it's new, this place could use a tad more soul, but i think this will happen as they sort out the finishing decor touches. This is my new favourite hotel in siem reap and for service and value alone it really beats the pants off just about anywhere else in town. Would recco this to everyone.
