It has taken me a few weeks to write this review as I wanted to find a way to do the tours justice, however I am still struggling to find words to explain just how amazing they both were.
I will start with the Moto Tour, this is one of the best ways to see Siem Reap in a way that is off the tourist trail, you venture out into the 'real' Siem Reap, see amazing local villages, a beautiful temple and get to see the sunset from atop a stunningly peaceful cliff, well worth even cent!!
The spiritual tour was by far one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I was lucky enough to be the first person to go on this new spiritual tour and I cannot speak highly enough of it. I was picked up from my guest house by Bob and my tour leader, the amazing Sokhun. From here I was taken out to Pagoda right on the lakes edge out of town, Sokhun explained the history of the Pagoda and we walked around, he explained in beautiful detail each part of it. Here I had a moment that will stay with me forever, I received a full water blessing, this was such a special experience and truly rendered me speechless and very emotional. Afterwards I has the privilege of sitting under a Bodhi tree with Bob and Sokhun and had the chance to ask any questions I liked in a non judgemental and very open forum. We moved on to another Pagoda where we sat and listened to the monks chanting, I wish I had the right words to explain just how powerful this was. From here we went to an old temple where Bob lead Sokhun and myself through a meditation as the sun set. This was the perfect way to end such a special day.
There is no way my words can do justice for what I was lucky enough to experience. Sokhun was the most perfect guide, his knowledge and love for his country and Buddhism is something that was so touching to see, he has a brilliant soul and a kind gentile nature. I was blessed to have Bob join us for the afternoon, his passion to show people his love for the culture here is unmatched, he also captured the day in some amazing photos! This day is something I will remember and cherish forever. I only hope more people get to experience this as it is well worth it. I cant think of a better way to get such a great insight into Buddhism in Siem Reap while meeting such amazing people.
