Its mightiness and magnificence bespeak a pomp and a luxury surpassing that of a Pharaoh or a Shah Jahan, an impressiveness greater than that of the Pyramids, an artistic distinctiveness as fine as that of the Taj Mahal. « less

“An absolute must see! Go around 11am”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We left for the Temples around 10:30am and when we got there it felt like we completely missed the crowd. Yes, we heard that everyone should go in the morning for sunrise or later for sundown however we could not have timed it better in the afternoon as most of our pictures look like we're the only people there! Was a little hot so bring your hats and sunscreen as expected.

“A must see in your lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

If you don't want to die without seeing the Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, etc., you must see Angkor! It is truly amazing. You must see more of it than just Angkor Wat. Some of the smaller ones are incredible.

I took the elephant ride near Angkor Wat. Not much of a view. The worst part was that it cost $20 to go up the hill. They don't tell you that its another $20 to go back down. I walked.

“huge - yes, overcrowded - yes, worthy the most attention - definitely not!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

in my opinion it's really ok to leave angor wat for the last hour or so. a walk along the pond along it's walls is maybe a big part of my good impression, the temple itself - yes, it is huge and carvings elaborate and all, and still it feels too touristic, like no miracle is left in there. I really liked some other sites of the area more (preah khan 7 30 in the morning.. WOW!!)

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Very very deserving of its place as one of the great tourist and archaeological sites of the world. Absolutely delighted to visit here and it was good I had little expectation to then be so impressed. A day pass is twenty dollars, and a three day pass costs forty, which can be used on non consecutive days I believe. Get a tuk tuk driver, I thought I would not like it but it was actually very fun to sit there with the breeze and all. But be warned about traffic fumes, many Asian tourists got these face masks to protect their lungs which I thought was a good idea. Sunglasses and hat etc are also a must. The temple visit gets very hot.

“Travel back in time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Must visit place before you die, Skip Phem Peh, just go direct to Angkor watt. Beware of hoards of tourist.

Really beautiful, marvel at the building of such a grand building, in stunning location, on such a scale 1000 years ago.
