“Welcome Home Carla & Thank You Jacques!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Paradise........ I have worked 20 years in sevaral countries with many International Hotels and La Residence have it down to a fine art when it comes to hospitality with a difference. GM Carla recently arrived and together with Resident Manager Jacques could not have done more to ensure a memorable stay in Siem Reap. Thank you both and your wonderful team for an experience we will not forget.

Best wishes from Thailand,

Alex

Room Tip: CIrcle restaurant dining was something else, well worth a visit

We stayed three nights here in a deluxe garden room. The room and facilities were excellent and the service outstanding. We would have rated the hotel as excellent overall but our experience of the hotels restaurant for dinner was disppointing. The food was not especially good and was very highly priced. Perhaps we chose a night when the kitchen had a bad day but we were far from impressed. A pity because everything else about the hotel including breakfast really was first class. If you stay you can find much better food at much better value outside of the hotel as we did on the subsequent two nights.

Elegant, comfortable, bursting with character, and an awesome location. Walking distance to the old market, Pub Street, and restaurants and shops along Siem Reap river. It is easy and fun to take a tuk tuk to the temple ruins. The breakfast buffet was beautiful, delicious, with choices abounding. I dream of the vegetable spring rolls. The staff was attentive, warm, and friendly. Everyone we spoke with commumicated well in English. After returning from the temples the pool was especially refreshing and relaxing. Enjoying the lush landscaping and surrounding fish ponds while listening to the birds singing made La Residence d'Angkor a very special treat. We stayed here for 3 nights each in February and March.

We were here for 3 nights, having stayed at the same time last year - so there was no deliberation about where to stay ! Wonderful hotel with fantastic hospitality and service. We were upgraded to a poolside room, but in relity all the rooms are very comfortable with great facilities. A 5 - 10 minute walk into the bustle of Siem Reap and all it has to offer. Ideal location from which to visit the temples. Pub street is noisy and brash, and the night we were there, there was a parade of 'dolls' through the streets which only happens on one night a year - how lucky we weree to see it.

After a 24hr journey we were greeted with a warm welcome and cold flannels and drinks. Our room is beautiful and well sized, the staff are very efficient and friendly. Dinner was lovely and given we were tired we shared a main mixed sample dish which was no problem at all. Returning to our room that night we found a refreshing flask of herbal tea. Breakfast starts at 5 which is great for the sunrise visits to the temples or you can take a packed breakfast.

The pool area is very relaxing and the salt water pool ismperfectmso much nicer than the usual chlorine laden pools.

Overall a gem with a unique and personal feel. Can't wait for our next three nights here.

The hotel, spa and pool provide a wonderful oasis amidst the sweltering heat and tourbuses of Siem Reap. The small touches like cold wet towels on arrival each day made a surprising impact. You can certainly find comfort and style more affordably but if money is no object then this hotel is the way to go. The traditional Khmer massage at the spa was wonderful and the morning instruction by a local monk was fascinating. Great breakfast buffet but for the stature and price of an Orient Express hotel the dinner should have been better - traditional Khmer flavors were watered down. I have read the glowing reviews of the traditional Khmer dance show and agree that the costumes and lead dancer are wonderful, but the show - behind the walls of a luxurious hotel for a small collection of diners - felt a bit off. As attentive as the staff was, few spoke much English or French. I would give 4 and a half stars if I could.

My husband and I stayed at La Residence for 2 nights while we were visiting the various temples in Angkor Wat.( February 23-25, 2013). The buidings are elegant in a traditional Thai like style ,in a quiet , serene atmosphere with lots of greenery and water gardens.. The hotel is relatively small and intimtae with just 3 floors. The rooms are huge with huge tubs as well. Our first floor bedroom overlooking the gardens had floor to ceiling glass windows overllooking a small patio and greenery behind it . There is a long pool in the center of the hotel and there is a spa as well. We used the bar upstairs on both nights and dined at the restaurant on our last evening. We had the 7 course menu which was one of the best dinners we had during our cruise to Southeast asia. If you want to splurge in Siem Reap, this is the place.
