“Aroma in the lobby enough to make me return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

The hotel pumps into the lobby an orange green tea aroma through its air conditioning system - I will never forget that smell. It's part of the walk welcome that awaits you each time to enter the hotel.

Staff is excellent. Happy to see you, eager to make your stay the best one yet. Concierge was able to make two dinner reservations for us, and helped get us into tuk-tuks to get there safely.

Rooms are comfortable and "large" with plenty of space for storing luggage. We had a pool view on the 3rd floor. Do not put up your "Do Not Disturb" sign - make sure you to get turn down service because treats await, and not just cookies! Toiletries are L'Occitane. :-)

We used the laundry service. Put all of our clothes to be laundered in the provided bag (as much as you can fit, really) for just $33. It was delivered to our room in a cute trunk - cleaned, pressed, wrapped in tissue paper. Nice to have clean clothes when we got back to the US.

The pool was fabulous and quiet when we were there. Huge! Grounds are very, very well maintained and picturesque. Pool bar is swim up, and uses fresh coconut in its pina coladas, in case you care :-)

The hotel gym is sufficient, with a few cardio machines, free weights and a couple of weight machines.

We ate breakfast in The Citadel. The buffet is large with many options. Try the small detox juices, they are cute and refreshing. We only had a group dinner there as part of an event for our trip. The meal was very tasty. I will be thinking about my pumpkin soup for a long time.

If (really, when) we return to Cambodia, this will be our place to stay. It is very close to Angkor Wat and easy to get to other attraction, like the Night Market.

We spent three nights at this hotel. The hotel grounds are lovely and it is a quick inexpensive tuk tuk ride to Angkor Wat or downtown Siem Reap. Our room was clean and spacious, the breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of choices. We spent our afternoons by the large an lovely swimming pool with a swim up bar.

They are doing some remodeling of the rooms, We did not notice noise but there were some strong paint/lacquer smells at times.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a balcony overlooking the pool.

The Sofitel Anghkor Phokeethra Golf and Spa resort is impressive.
Comfort, friendliness, fine foods and your fantastic Cambodian musical instruments plus décor
will not be forgotten.Wish we had been able to spend more time relaxing there at the resort.

Room Tip: Room on 3rd floor facing the pools.

Terrible experience at Sofitel Angkor:
-employees around the pool staring women in bikini
-work in progress: the hotel is making some works and hammering will wake you up at 6.30 in the morning. This noise will continue al day long so you are unable to take a nap. Nobody tells you about this, so be careful.
-hotel walls are paper thin. You can hear everything that other guests are talking/doing as if they were inside you room.
Not even near a Sofitel experience. The personnel are very nice and friendly but there is a serious high management problem. Paying for a 5 star hotel and getting hammering noises al day is just wrong! We will definitely think twice before choosing a Sofitel again.

This Sofitel is a well established property and maintained in 1st class condition. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The main restaurant provided good quality food in a range of styles - Asian and Western, main meals and more casual menu items.
The golf course, although an interesting design, was not presented to the same standard as the hotel. On the Sunday morning I was about the only golfer on the course but the English capability of the caddie provided was barely acceptable.

Visiting the historical sites, walking, hiking and spending times around crowded places can get tiresome, however, when one enter the hotel grounds, there's a sense of calmness that sets in. The staff are all very helpful and food is quite good at this hotel. Breakfast is exceptional.
