“I loved it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

The aroma when we walked in the lobby of the hotel was very pleasant.

Real friendly staff!! The gardens and pool are beautifully designed! We had the dinner buffet and liked it so much so we had that again the second night.

The Cambodian show at dinner reminded me of Thailand a lot, not sure that would be the best music for dinner since the drum beat was so strong.

Breakfast was great!! We had some laundry done and it was finished real fast!

They could do a bit better with their gym though. I got to work out just fine. We would recommend this hotel to friends!!

The location is not in the center, but I understand it would be hard for such a large hotel to be in the heart of the city. It is very close to Angkor Watt!!

This Sofitel is set in beautiful landscaped grounds, it has a huge swimming pool and on arrival we were greeted by traditional dancers. The restaurant provides a great buffet breakfast and lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful and town is just a very short tuk tuk ride away.

This resort is very nice at first impression, but rooms are not up to Sofitel standards as they are tired looking and in need of renovation, and hence this hotel is not great value, especially when comparing to other 5 star properties we've visited during our 2 week trip through Cambodia and Vietnam. Pool is nice and breakfast buffet is good (but Phnom Penh Sofitel was better).

Room Tip: Ask for a room far from the pool if you want to enjoy some quiet time. Hotel is child friendly so th...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay with us. Naturally we were not delighted to read your feedback, as we all felt we had failed in our commitment to quality. Nevertheless, I have taken good note of your feedback regarding the condition of our rooms and will share it with our owners. The Sofitel was my last check in in Siem Reap. I have been here a month and have stayed in 5 hotels and naturally I knew this would be the one to beat.

The rooms are STUNNING and furniture made of a quality that is hard to find nowadays. The resort itself is well designed and you have to pinch yourself to realise you're in the centre of the city, you can be forgiven for thinking you're on a tropical island somewhere.

The food is great and service OUTSTANDING. I had a problem with a travel agency who booked the wrong flights and refused to change them, the hotel immediately got on the phone to help me out and were so wonderful! Sophea made a point of greeting me everyday and any enquiry i had was dealt with quickly and efficiently and with a smile, nothing was too much, she really made me feel at home whilst staying here over christmas.

It is expensive for Cambodia, but worth it for that added ease knowing everything is taken care of for your stay.

Great breakfast buffet, staff are super friendly, nice rooms. Lighting system in the rooms is not ideal - hard to find the right switch at night! Benoit the operations manager quickly took care of our one small issue during the stay.

Grounds are gorgeous and nice pool.

Overall a great experience, though pricey.

Thank you for the review. I love your title and cannot agree more… This is one of the most often remarks I get of our guests when coming back from the Temples or from the little buzzing town of Siem Reap. I will share your comments about the lighting in our rooms with our owners. Certainly your kind comments regarding our hotel “Ambassadors” were well received by the Team. On behalf of the entire team, I wish you (with much delay) a Magnifique New Year – Fabrice Ducry/General Manager

Hotel is beautiful, pool area is quiet and lovely, hotel location is very good. Rooms are well-decorated, clean, and quiet. Service was excellent - attentive but not overbearing. The buffet breakfast is especially nice. This hotel is relatively close to the Angkor Wat temple complex and the magnificant museum is just down the street.

Note: The hotel supports a special job training program for Cambodian students and offers guests the opportunity to purchase a bike and backpack for a student. There is no pressure at all - just a sign and a bicycle in the lobby. Nobody actually asks or points it out, but they were very efficient and appreciative when I approached the desk to donate. It's inexpensive - $55 total - and I received a nice note following the donation. It's a wonderful idea for students that need our help to succeed. It's a nice thing for Sofitel to sponsor.
