We stayed at the Privilege Floor for two nights before New Years Eve (it was fully booked for NYE) and wish we could have stayed longer. We are seasoned travellers and we know that it extremely rare that a hotel stay makes a personal impression on you but that's what this team managed to do. Initially we were picked up from the airport by Bunna who gave us some good insights on our journey to the hotel and left us in the care of the team. Having read previous reviews we booked a package which gave us Dy our guide, Mul our driver and really this was so worthwhile not only to see and understand the history of the temples which are incredible but also to get an understanding of peoples lives in Cambodia today and really tailor the time to what you want to do rather than just be on a conveyor belt tour. It was high season so we appreciated the tips on avoiding the crowds and the added extra value that comes from someone who has the experience. We experienced far more in two days than seemed possible. Other highlights were the floating village by longtail boat and gaining the understanding of the landmine problem here also made an impression. Dy is an excellent guide and had the balance right throughout the time we spent with him, entertaining and knowledgable and totally flexible. For our stay Alex and Jacky looked after us and couldnt have been more helpful and genuine (hard to get right) - you can tell that they take pride in their work. If there is any issue here or any assistance needed they will sort it out personally and go the nth degree to enhance your stay. (Sean is the third musketeer who also has great reviews). It's for that reason that we rated our stay here - we stayed at Raffles in Phnom Penh after this and it seemed a pale imitation - its the personalities that make this hotel. One of the other assets to the hotel is Sokmen who served our dinner and also made it memorable and very entertaining - I think he makes an impression on most people with his enthusiasm and individuality. The food here was also excellent - we werent expecting the dinner to be so good - great breakfasts with perfectly cooked made to order eggs, omelettes etc. The spa was also very good. In fact its hard to write a review without sounding over gushing or raising huge expectations. We would definitely stay again so hope the continued great reviews mean its not fully booked! By the time we left Siem Reap we did feel a connection with the place and Cambodia overall and this was I think down to the care we received and the personalities who made it out of the ordinary. We have travelled around the world over the years in mostly hand picked accommodation and this would be one of our top recommendations - so dont change what you do!
