“Good value away from main area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

I found the location to be good, because it is away from the noisy main area. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The air conditioning worked well, but the other areas of the hotel do not have air conditioning. Breakfast was basic but convenient. I took advantage of the massage in your room at a great price, which was also very convenient and great at the end of a long day of walking. I think the value is good for the area. Staff is helpful and nice. Laundry service was cheap and efficient. No complaints from me.

My arrival in Siem Reap didn't start well. The tuktuk driver from the hotel was about 40 minutes late picking me up from coach station, and when I'd finally arrived, although the staff were welcoming and offered me cold drinks and a wet towel to refresh myself, I felt a bit overwhelmed when they began to tell me about all the services that they offer. I really wanted to just be shown my room so I could sort myself out!
But those were the only negatives. Every other time, the staff were friendly, lighthearted but also helpful and efficient - they quickly replaced batteries for aircon controller, organised a tuktuk driver for Angkor Wat with a night's notice, and the postcards I left with them did make it back to the UK.
The hotel itself is a short walk to city centre. It's on a large, unlit dirt road parallel to the main road, but I didn't have any problems getting around and I didn't feel unsafe. The superior double room was comfortable, reasonably spacious, had a great shower and a decent-sized bathtub with lots of toiletries. The breakfast - I asked for banana pancake - wasn't anything special but was substantial and included fresh fruit. Because I was often late, coffee tended to be lukewarm and a bit bitter! I tried an Amok for lunch here, which was ok. I would stay at Wooden Angkor again, but would probably eat main meals elsewhere.

We arrived at the Wooden Angkor after a very long bus ride in the evening. The staff was very nice, helpful and gave us some good information about the temples. The rooms are clean and cheap. The roof-top restaurant served good food and is a nice place to stay for a while.

The staff at Wooden Angkor are very helpful and really friendly. They make you feel very welcome and make sure you enjoy your stay. The location is ideal as it isn't far from Pub Street and markets. The rooms are great value - very clean and a decent size. There's a rooftop restaurant which is reasonably priced and serves Cambodian food and drinks. I would happily return to the Wooden Angkor.

If this hotel had a pool I would have given it 5 stars. The location is very good as you can walk to the street market and Pub Street and the hotel is very clean with pleasant rooms. They serve breakfast on the roof deck and it was one of the better breakfasts I had while in Asia.

Room Tip: There's no elevator, so you may want a lower floor if you have lots of bags.

Wooden Angkor hotel is just within short walking distance of central Siem Reap, Central Market, Old Market, banking, shopping and restaurant areas. The rooms are nicely furnished with fridge, GREAT AC, nice bathroom and very clean. Computer /Wi-Fi available free of charge. Laundry service available if needed. Roof terrace has a full restaurant service offering all kind of Cambodia food drinks/cocktails and all this at reasonable prices. Staff are extremly friendly. We can highly recommend this hotel and would book it again in the future,

Staff very friendly . Great location and next to the excellent restaurant Sugar Palm. Love the room, bathtub a little bit strange but who could complain for that price. In general, I would return to that hotel
