“Glorious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

What a fantastic little hotel this is. It was our absolute favourite of all the places we stayed in Cambodia, its the staff who make it, all smiles and "hellos" wherever you go. Cold fannels and water whenever you come back from a hot dusty day temple bashing, a lovely terrace for cocktails, nothing is too much trouble. Easy stroll into town for the markets. Our room was lovely and wifi too, we also treated ourselves to the hour long, oil massage - highly recommended. The added bonus was to discover that literally next door is the Sugar Palm restaurant - where the resident Chef taught Gordon Ramsey how to make fish amok. Delicious! Thanks Wooden Angkor - we will be back! :)

This place was one of the best we stayed in whilst in Siem Reap. Really cute, clean place. It was cheap but the rooms were great and the staff were excellent. Gendar (not sure I spelt that correctly) was great and helped organise us anything for a Tuk Tuk to keeping our luggage in the office whilst we went up North to Preah Viyah. My only issue would be the fact the pillows were huge and very hard.

Their English was excellent, a skill we found rare around Cambodia. There was a mix up with one of our nights but they sorted it out quickly for us as it was actually the booking agents fault.

I absolutely rate this place and would definitely go back again.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Angkor Wat. Really great polite staff who couldn't do enough for you. Great restaurant on the roof of the hotel. Food was average. Lots of toiletries provided in the bathroom.
Would stay there again.

Staff here are exceptional for friendliness and attentiveness. Good english at the front desk. The place is very clean, within easy walking distance of the night market, local market, museum and so forth. Breakfast on the roof is a nice way to start the day. Based on our experiences staying in similarly priced guesthouse/hotels across Cambodia, a few things prevent me from rating any higher, although these may not be an issue for you. The room was extremely dark, not just because of the wood, which is lovely, but also because the windows are barred with wide wooden colonnades....add to this the closeness of the building next door and there was almost no natural light. The bathroom smelled badly of sewage and although we brought this to the hotel's attention, it remained a problem for the several days we were there. When we asked for their help in booking some events, iit seemed the receptionist would only do so if we used their preferred providers, so we ended up doing it ourselves. (They were however extremely helpful in booking transport.) Perhaps we just had an unfortunate room and some requests were misunderstood but these things did detract from our stay, and they weren't dealt with when we brought them up.

Room Tip: Choose a room towards the back of the building so you get more natural light.

Beautiful front entrance; stepping stones across a coi pond. Very welcoming front desk staff and concierge. Room was fairy basic but totally adequite. Clean, good a/c, hot water. The bed was pretty hard. The rooftop restaurant is pretty neat. Only had breakfast there, but it was good. The neighborhood is sort of run down, but you're in Cambodia.

Room Tip: When you book the hotel, for some reason it comes up as "Hotel 89". There is a small sign...

I stayed here at the beginning of December and the Wooden Angkor is a nice clean hotel within walking distance of the night market and pub street with friendly and helpful staff. If you are planning to go to Angkor Wat I would recommend going for sunrise on a tuk tuk which the hotel staff are more than happy to arrange

My stay at the Wooden Angkor was undoubtedly the best hotel experience to date. Really. The front desk staff was super attentive, and was always ready to assist in any way. The restaurant staff was also excellent, especially Rithy, who went out of her way to show me some really excellent local foods during her time off! Last but not least, the cleaning staff was extremely memorable. Eng was super sweet, and was always asking if the room was up to par, etc. Wow, what service. Without a doubt, the best hotel deal around, and I will certainly be back in the future!

P.S. The rooms have balconies and the cold jasmine scented towels upon every entry to the hotel is hard to pass up after walking around under the sun all day.

I will be back soon :}
