We stayed at the Cashew Nut for a total of 7 nights. Originally we'd planned 5 but we enjoyed it so much we decided to come back for another 2 nights despite it being six hours out of our way on good old Cambodia roads.
Cashew Nut delivers on two fronts. On the one hand it is a professional, immaculately clean, affordably priced guesthouse, with staff that genuinely care and can't do enough to help you. So far so good.
However, what really sets the Cahew Nut apart is that it feels genuinely homely, and after 9 months on the road these are the places you remember. The breakfast is a great 'help yourself' affair. The roof terrace is a brilliant place to take a break from being a tourist for a a day. Watching the sunset on the comfy sofa's with a cold beer in hand in a hugely welcome treat. The ability to stay in, pick a movie and order a takeaway makes a welcome change from the nightly trawl up and down pub street trying to decide which restaraunt to try this time.
On top of all that the staff are a joy. Alan, a former tour guide, is a wealth of information about everything there is to do in the area. After just a couple of days, Phy and the rest of the staff couldn't be any friendlier or more helpful. Thea, the tuk-tuk driver that Alan organised for us was brilliant, took us to see all the sites and spoke excellent english. It made a welcome change not having to haggle for the price every time.
All in all, excellent value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Thankyou for a wonderful stay.
