“Spacious and Serene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

We stayed at The Pool and Palm Villa for 5 nights with our 8 months old daughter and immensely enjoyed the experience.

Positives
- Big spacious rooms. Actually its a normal size bedroom but it comes with a huge Living room and a Verandah which was very nice for us as our daughter got lot of space to crawl! The property itself is very big, green and well maintained so you do not feel like you are staying in a city.
- Nice helpful staff and Owners. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and even brought toys for our daughter. If you like personalized service, this is the place to go.
- Great Pool
- Great value for money for the kind of property it is. Also other services like trip to temples/other attractions, pick up/drop from the airport were all competitively priced, so one need not worry about shopping around etc.

Negatives
- Its slightly far off from the city. Its not a big negative and actually could be seen as a positive depending upon what you are looking for. They arrange for a free drop to the Old Market and a ride back would take 4/5 minutes and would cost 1.50-2.00 $.
- The restaurant, although very nice, is dead in the evening. So unless you are looking for a quiet dinner, you will have to take a Tuk Tuk and go out as there ain't too many lively places close to the property
-Most of the staff does not speak English so it could get difficult at times. However, their willingness to help and attitude is so nice that we did not mind it so much. There was some confusion about the massage rates due to language problems and at check out, I suddenly saw an inflated bill. However, the day manager(who thankfully can easily converse in English) understood that the right rates were not conveyed to us and offered to reverse it and apologised. We decided to split the extra cost 50:50 as it was an outsourced service for them and I did not want him to lose money. Even an incident like that did not leave any bad taste in the mouth.

Verdict
I will strongly recommend The Pool and Palm Villa. However, if you want a very active holiday and want to party/go out every night, you would be better served staying somewhere else.

The villa is situated away from the hustle and bustle of downtown of Siem Reap but close enough to go shopping at the night markets and have ice-cream at the cafes. I stayed there with my friends for almost a week and enjoyed every minute of it. It is a quaint and quiet place. It lives up to its name of being a villa, with spacious grounds and lovely gardens, full of lush green trees, exotic plants and beautiful flowers, complete with lovely koi pond and lotus pond, in which you can take walks to enjoy the sound of running water and chirping birds. You can also sit at the veranda to enjoy the beautiful sunset or sunrise. It is not only a beautiful place. The service is excellent. They arranged all the transportation and visits to the various attractions according to our preferences. The personalised service made us feel really pampered and well taken care of. We could really relax and not worry about a thing. Even the meals are taken care of. The food at their cafe by the pool, Makan Makan is delicious and nutritious too! The staff is friendly, obliging, polite and attentive, without being intrusive. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. Every room is unique. No two rooms are the same. It is really a ideal place to relax, pamper yourself and have great holiday.

Siem Reap can get pretty busy during the high season, so to find this hidden treasure was a real pleasure.
Rahim & Cees (owners) and their amazing staff were so accommodating in every aspect.

It always felt like home, when we would come back in the evenings and had our meals by the resort's beautiful pool. The breakfast were great as was dinner when we chose to eat in!

You can't go wrong, we felt so connected with this place. We will surely return.

This was a fantastic find in the outskirts of town, the hotel organized our collection from the airport and.on arrival we were upgraded to a suite with own lounge, gardens and terraces. The staff could not have done enough for us. There was a lovely swimming pool and gardens where we had breakfast every morning. Thank you to everyone

Room Tip: We stayed in villa 1 ground floor which had own lounge

Once we stepped into the Pool & Palm Villa, we realized this would be the right place for our 4-day private yoga retreat. A warm welcome by the solicitous team leaded by Rahim and Cees, we could feel the sunshine splashed over us even it was raining outside.
During the stay, everyone of us was impressed by the hearty and friendly arrangement of the hotel, from simply providing us the poolside area for yoga practice, to the home- party setting for our dinner gathering. Special thanks to Cees for his professional photography, picturing the most happiest and memorable moments for us.
It is true that the hotel is a tiny boutique hotel, but the amenities are up to standard. We have chosen Angkor Villa for our stay and really amazed by the decent decoration of the interior. The rooms are spacious, clean and cozy. We all love the huge living room inside Angkor 5 and did share many good times there after dinner.
Of course, we cannot forget the fantastic pool and garden area. We still remember the mornings we practised yoga at the poolside, we all could sense the smell, the taste and the touch of nature. It was so fresh and comfortable! We believe this will be a unforgettable experience in our yoga journey for sure. And the poolside restaurant is lovely. A good day started by enjoying the yummy breakfast in such a wonderful environment.
Love the people, love the villa. Hope to see you all again in the near future! Keep smiling! Namaste.

We hired out the whole Pool and Palm Villa for four days as a private retreat. It was rainy most of the time but we had an amazing stay, thanks to Rahim, Cees and their dedicated team, taking care of our every needs from arranging rides to special meal requests to...you name it!
This lovely hideaway is defintely not a posh posh 5-star hotel, but what it is, is a quaint little boutique hotel that makes you feel like home. It's clean, comfortable, and serene. The pool is simply amazing - wish we could have more time there!
And last but not the least, food in the restaurant is heavenly. The other reviewer's comment about the best fish amok in Siem Reap is so true. The menu is limited and service is slow, but it's worth the wait!
Thanks guys! Please keep up the good work - we will be back!!

Dear Ann,

Our Fish Amok might be simple, but that is how a traditional fish amok should be. We grow our own amok leaves and you'll see Pich, our petite cook, running to the garden at times to cut the banana leaves for the container.

We thank you for your review and hope to see you again in the future. Please send hugs to your team.

We staeyed here for eight days in total - leaving for two days to visit Battambang. My wife got ill on our return from Battambang and the staff and owner of the Pool and Palm could not have done more to help us and were extermely solicitous and concerned. The room we had was actually two huge rooms with a beautiful verandah. The hotel's bikes got us around the temples, a tuk tuk took us the kilometer or so into town in the evenings. The pool is fantastic and the garden a lovely place to get back to at the end of sightseeing. On our last day we were flying out at 23.00 and were allowed to use our rooms until our departure without extra cost - evidence of the care and generosity with which we treated. Highly recommended.

Dear Vic,

On behalf of the Pool and Palm Villa, we thank you for your review. It was a pity that your wife were not able to enjoy the trip as much as you did, especially on the bicycle. I hope she is feeling much much better now .

Hugs to both of you from the team from the Pool and Palm Villa.
