“Villa, restaurant and cooking class... all in one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We had hesitated to come here as we had heard that the situation not so good at Cambodia (which is true - demonstration - political conflict) but only at Phnom Penh and we didn't saw any problems at Siem Reap. This property is amazing in every way and we certainly hope to return. We had a great room and comfy bed. The pool was small- but incredible (salt water). The restaurant and The cooking class were fantastic. Take a cooking classes with Chan Tha... she makes them fun and effective at the same time. Loved the breakfast each morning, fresh food and good coffee. Alliance Boutique Villa is first rate in every way!

This is a fabulous small hotel! There is no doubt about it! Highlights of our experience were our sweet greeting by Chanta (the Owner). The air conditioning in our room was not working and she stayed on top of the situation, even going as far as to serve us our dinner on her own at their restaurant! Overall in this hotel is great. We will return here as soon as possible.

This place exceeded expectations across the board. Currently here with another couple (checked in 01 Sept) for five nights. This is a small boutique hotel that has very clean and comfortable rooms. We're in the Rose and Purple rooms that have king size beds which are very comfortable by western standards. Great scene - room terraces offer nice privacy and super quick & easy access to the pool/restaurant area. We had the pool to ourselves - small, but clean, salt water and chill setting (cheap drinks and awesome appetizers). I normally eat little at the hotel I stay at, especially when they provide free breakfast. This place bucks this trend however because the food is freshly prepared, cheap and delicious. The Tom Yum soup was to die for! The breakfast is the same every day but why would you complain about fresh eggs to order, freshly baked bread/croissants (how do they do it?), fresh fruit and yogurt, coffee/juice? All the staff are friendly and helped us with every need. The owner is a french chap and is a real good guy. Gave us great advice on touring the temples, which we executed on (guide and air conditioned van for $65/day) and highly recommend.

You can't beat this place if you're looking to avoid the "big box" or resort hotel - this is a small hotel (7 rooms total I think) that offers exceptional comfort, food, atmosphere, scene. Great location too - easy/close access (walk to) to the busy markets/nightlife, but very quiet for chilling out at the pool at night (we lounged there till 10pm) and sleeping. I wish every place I stayed would be like this. Second nod to the tom yum soup here! My god!!

Alliance Villa is small hotel but the service is good. The room was beautiful and seemed to be almost brand-new. The design was light, airy and have good proximity to everything. Our only concern was the food, it was good but not great. At the end of our 5 days we were bored with the simple breakfast.

Alliance Boutique Villa is a wonderful hotel with wonderful service. Our room on the first floor with small balcony - really great. The service is perfect and flawless. It's really worth the price. The food at the restaurants was excellent. And the the Apsara dance show was really nice. The staff anticipate your needs before we did and I would like to say everyone was very pleasant and genuine. No matter how great a place is there are always a few things that can happen. We were happy management took care of things. Thank you to our waitresses and everyone else that I did not get their names gave us a very memorable stay.

Good: The staff were very prompt and efficient in dealing with the booking. The building is very lovely and an oasis from the bustle of Siem Reap. Breakfasts were excellent (especially the omelette). Our packed lunch was very good and far too much for 2 people, so it was shared with the driver and the guide ! I do praise the staff for doing a good job in, what appeared to be, difficult circumstances - they did try very hard. Overall good value for the package chosen.

Not so Good: Unfortunately, we found the whole experience quite disappointing. Maybe we were just unlucky as the rest of the reviewers do not seem to have had any problems ! We had a few incidents (which I shall not list but happy to supply to the management should they be interested) that could have easily been avoided if there had been better procedures / communication. Also my husband had a bad fall as the leaves from the trees in the garden had not been cleared and the wood was wet (lots of rain) making the leaves very slippery. He injured his knee quite badly and it was only after his fall that they started to clear the leaves. I did not find the general cleaning particularly good and thought the quilted bedspreads looked quite grubby. There did not seem to be any staff in the hotel at night and the staff who could speak English did not arrive in the morning until 9 a.m. I believe that the owner/manager was not on site (we asked) and no one was in a position to make any decisions. As part of our package, we had a trip on the Tonle Sap River. BE WARNED: The tuk tuk ride is very long (an hour or more each way) on mostly very bad roads or no roads - just tracks - so if you have any health problems (respiratory or back), do not attempt. Älso as part of our package, we were allocated a dedicated tuk tuk driver for the duration of our stay. He disappeared a couple of times (engine problems ?) and we had to use alternative transport but he was very sweet and helpful. If the problems could be sorted out, it would be an excellent place to stay.

Normally stay at top end hotels ,but hooked on these French styled boutique villa's ,won't stay and be disappointed again at a 5 star hotel when you can stay here at half the price and get better service! Loved every minute of our 4 day stay. Staff ( and plenty of them were lovely from breakfast to dinner, also great shows!

Room Tip: Only have 5 suites , we stayed on the ground floor ,friend stayed in first floor and they were equal...
