“Nice stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We stayed at the Golden Temple Hotel for 4 nights in early December. With only a few minor exceptions we recommend this hotel highly. The best part is the staff. They were by far the most friendly group of people I met on our entire 17 day vacation. The room was well decorated, if slightly dark. The bed was comfortable and there was pleanty of storage. The free breakfast was more than enough to eat and had nice choices. My partner thought the coffee was terrible, but all else great. The pool area was very relaxing and a nice place to spend some time after a long day of temple tours. We used a tour guide from the hotel (Mr. Binn) and he did a good job. Location to town is perfect-not right in town but a 5 minute walk. We had a plumbing issue in our bathroom (as did several other rooms on our floor.) We were asked to leave the room while it was fixed so we went to the lobby and waited...and waited....and waited. We finally had to ask what the problem was and how long it was going to take to get fixed. It took around 1.5 hours by which time we were a bit over the whole thing. The hotel staff were very appologetic about the eintire episode and gaveus a free dinner which was nice.

Room Tip: Our room was #24. If you open the curtains (which you ave to do to get some light in the room) you...

This hotel is an excellent value for the price with a lovely and welcoming staff. We stayed for 4 days over the Christmas holiday and found this property was perfectly situated in Siem Reap to easily get to Pub street and other great locations unlike the other larger, resort properties. The area surrounding the hotel was nothing special but as soon as you enter the lay-out, the decorations and the friendly staff immediately make you feel calm and relaxed. We spent most of time in Siem Reap exploring, so we did not require the amenities of a larger resort, but did appreciate the lovely pool and the free massage which was perfect after a long 75k bike ride on our first day. The only negative was that our room faced the street, which proved to be very noisy. Overall, this was a really excellent value and highly recommended if you are intending to spend most of your time out of the hotel.

Room Tip: get a room in the back vs one facing the street. it can get very noisy as there is construction acr...

We were led to the Golden Temple by all the nice reviews and are pleased to report they were spot on. We opted for the pool view room on an upper floor. The room was just as advertised with Khmer furnishings, a view of the pool, and air conditioned. But the real highlight was the friendliness of the staff -- all the staff -- and the extras like drinks and snack on arrival, daily hot breakfasts, a free lunch, and massages. The restaurant was very nice. It is open air overlooking the pool. Breakfasts were very good. You could get a variety of plates to suit Western or Asian tastes. In addition to the hot dishes you ordered, breads and other items were also available from the included buffet. We also had dinners there, equally good. We didn't spend much time exploring town, but shops, restaurants, and bars were easy to walk to.

We stayed at The Golden Temple on a recent visit to the temples at Angkor Wat and it proved to be an excellent choice.

Hotel reception staff could not be more welcoming: on arrival you are greeted warmly, given a cold refreshing cloth and a cool drink. And this happens every time you return from your dusty adventure. Also, while sitting pool side, bar staff will bring complimentary green tea. These little touches are appreciated.

The Khmer style furnishings of the hotel are bold and dramatic, adding to the appeal of the hotel, and the pool area is nicely screened with plants etc. (It is good to note that the hotel regularly fumigates to eliminate mosquitoes.)

We asked for an upper room overlooking the pool area and felt this was preferable to others, especially as the ground floor ones, while convenient if you have small children or are less mobile, offer less privacy.

We, a couple and three young adult children stayed in 2 rooms for 6 nights in early December. We had a ball. The hotel is lovely but the staff make it special. We felt very cared for and like part of the family. The location is good, within walking distance of the old market and Pub street - but if its too hot you can take a Tuk-Tuk for a buck. The breakfast is excellent and very filling and the food in the restaurant is of high quality and great value for money. After hot mornings visiting the temples of Angkor we enjoyed lazing by the pool, drinking too many cocktails and being fed too many free snacks. We booked through the hotel's website and had the VIP package - I recommend this because the freebies are too many to mention. Our kids enjoyed the cooking class and we had the results for lunch. The staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and help organise things. I can't recommend the hotel highly enough and we are definitely coming back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floors. Rooms facing the Hostel have balconie...

This was by FAR the best hotel that we stayed out in our 3.5 week Asian honeymoon. We stayed for four nights but would have loved to stay more. The service and hotel package was amazing; free airport transfers, free drinks and snacks on arrival, fruit basket and wine in room, free picnic lunch, free resturant meal for two, free massages, free access to bikes, free wifi and computer access. Staff speak great English and arranged tours and laundry for us. Location within walking distance to pub st! Pool was fantastic and breakfasts were delicious and filling. We did a cooking class at the hotel which was lots of fun too. I cannot explain how above and beyond the staff go for their guests. Do yourself a favour and stay at this hotel!

The golden temple staff is very customer oriented and is doing its very best to please their customers. I booked this hotel based on tripadvisor review and my wife and I had a great stay here. We spent 4nights in Siem Reap: 2 in a budget hostel (during 2days full of visit) and 2 others at Temple hotel more relax.

Summary
+ staff very service oriented
+ great pool
+ room size and overall hotel facilities (good according to local standard)
+ activities organized by the hotel: excellent cooking class and good massage at a very affordable rate
- location: the hotel is only 5 minutes away walking from pub street which is acceptable however it is build next to a hostel. If you don't have a pool view, then your balcony will be 3 meters away from the hostel. The management has added bamboo to create a bit of privacy. This was not very disturbing for us since we were not in our room during the day and closed the curtains at night.
- sleeping: bed cover a bit tight for 2 people, the hotel management should be able to solve that easily.

As long as you are ready to accept the location disadvantages, you can blindly book a room here and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask a room view towards the pool and away from the street.
