“Charming small hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

I recently stayed 4 nights at the GB Superior Hotel. (BTW, there are FOUR GB properties, apparently under 2 different managements: B&B, Superior Hotel, Resort, & one other; make sure you know which one you're getting).
The room was large, clean, stylish, convenient, & charming, with a lovely practical balcony overlooking the pool. Plumbing & amenities were all fine, and the extra services supplied & just added to the bill (tuk-tuk; driver; guide, masseurs) were high quality & affordable (1 hr oil massage for $15??). The public space includes a delightful pool, & the poolside breakfasts were gems!
The staff was young & consistently helpful if not hugely knowledgeable. However, they referred us to an excellent guide ("Mr. Lucky"), who not only toured us around the temples for 3 days, but helped with sending packages etc.
All in all, an outstanding experience; I'd go back in a minute!

I stayed at the Golden Banana for a month and couldn't be happier. The hotel is lovely and the service was great. I was doing writing while I was there, and my room, with two lovely balconies, was perfect. Golden Banana is located just a few blocks from the Old Market and Pub Street, and so was convenient, but also slightly away from the tourist crush. The hotel also has two lovely salt water pools, and a solid restaurant and bar. Definitely the choice in Siem Reap. I wish I could find a hotel of this quality and comfort in all my destinations.

Room Tip: The front room, with its two spacious balconies, would be my choice again.

I've been 5 times now and just love the place and the staff. Its perfect for couples or small groups, Both the atmosphere and service are fantastic. Don't go to Siem Reap without booking in! ;-> I've had different rooms each time I've been and although they vary I've never had a bad one. ;->

Got the tip to stay here off a friend living in Phnom Penh. Was not disappointed.
Quaint little room at the superior hotel up some very steep steps but worth the hassle. 2 long balconies attached to the room and plenty of space.
Two nice pools, very quiet and serene.
LOVELY people as well.
Great location, far away enough from the centre of town to limit the noise, but close enough to walk everywhere with a minimum of fuss...

B&B and Superior are completely different hotels. B&B is more basic. Superior is actually in two buildings. An old one with about 12-14 rooms and a new one with just few rooms. The old building is farther away from the street and other hotels and is very quiet. It has more style, bigger rooms, more mature trees and plants. Each room has a very nice balcony overlooking the pool. The pool is nice but shaded and doesn't get much direct sunlight. The pool in the new building gets more sun and it;s great for suntanning. You can use both pools.
Staff is extremely friendly.
Simple but good breakfast by the pool.
Very good location short walk from the old town.
Will definitely stay here again.

Hotel was nice and simple, had a standard room in the B&B section which was nice enough, however the curtains don't cover the windows very well which made changing awkward as the staff break area was right next to my room!

The let down for me was the power being turned off by the city for the entire day (both days I stayed there) which the staff knew about and failed to advise any of the guests. This meant there was no power and no running water, so no shower and no air/con. Considering its the 21st century a hotel of this size should have a generator to provide the hotel with power during such times or at the very least they should advise their guests so they can either find alternative accommodation or be compensated for lack of power/water.

Charming small hotel with friendly and pleasant young staff in smart green polo shirts. Our 'superior' room was perfect, with aircon, a little balcony with its own fan, comfy beds, hot shower, and nice views of pink roofs, waving palm fronds, and flowers. The poolside cafe was excellent for breakfast, meals, iced coffee etc. And it's an easy walk to the shops and restaurants in the middle of Siem Reap. A great three-day stay.
