“Great hotel, excellent tuktuk driver”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

Angkor pearl hotel remained true to its name, a gem. The room assigned to us was very big, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the menu changes everyday. But what struck me the most was the staff who were always smiling and always ready to lend a hand, whether it be for something to be done at at the hotel or to give directions. Most especially, we found a treasure in our tuktuk driver, Mr. Sam Tuktuk. He's a very cheerful and amiable tuktuk driver who we found through the rave reviews made by the others who also booked with Angkor Pearl. He speaks very good english, was very accomodating to our request to see the sunrise and the sunset, was always ready to provide us with cold water and towel after a long, tiring but enjoyable walk in the temples. We felt very safe with him as he is always there to see to our needs. He even acted as our informal guide because before we would go exploring, he would bring out his map and explain a little bit about the temple and its history. He would then give directions on how we go in and out of the temple. Really, mr. Sam tuktuk made our stay in Siem Reap a lot easier because of his assistance. Mr. Sam can easily be found in his facebook page, samtuktuk. Cheers, Sam!

We stayed for four nights at the Angkor Pearl and I really can't fault it.
The staff are fantastic, really friendly, helpful and genuine. I'd say the best staff we've met in 3 months of travelling in Asia. Leakhenna and Moniroth on reception were great, helping us rent bikes, arranging and booking dinner, sorting laundry, letting us use a room to shower in the evening after our check out - brilliant! Phanny on the door was also always very friendly and welcoming. The management have done a great job training their staff.
The hotel is an absolute bargain at only $20 per night for a large room, nice facilities, super clean PLUS a really great breakfast unfettered included. It's only a 10 minute walk to pub street if that's your thing but if not its only 2 minutes from the main road with lots of restaurants.

My only one small negative comment would be about checking in...We arrived without a booking but saw online before they had rooms for $20 but the could only offer rooms for $25 in person so we just used the computer in reception and booed online! Seemed a little crazy as they would have payed commission to hotels.com but o bother for us!!

Checked in a couple of days ago, and the welcome from the staff was wonderful. Mr Phar Soprom, Mr Panny, Mr Vannak, Ms Leakena and Ms Monyreath made our stay. So friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here. Rooms clean, aircon a treat after a big day of tourist activities, fantastic drinks made by Mr Phat Soprom... We will be back

During our 5 day stay in Siem Reap we stayed at Angkor Pearl upon recommendation by a friend who stayed there during his visit there last year. We came in a group of 24, consisting of 16 students and 8 teachers. We booked 6 triple rooms and 3 twin rooms. The hotel looks small on the outside but once in our rooms we felt comfortable as the rooms are clean and not small.
The staff is most friendly, pleasant , ever ready to smile and does their work in a professional way. The room rates are inclusive of buffet breakfast. We had all our meals, breakfast., lunch and dinner at the hotel. This saves us a lot time looking for food outside. I have to inform them to prepare our meals for 24 of us and they are most gracious to meet our needs. When we could not be back for lunch, we requested for packed lunch. The F & B supervisor is most friendly and willing to listen to our needs. However we face 2 nights of blackouts which lasted for about 5 -10 minutes and water shortage on the last day as we were preparing to leave for the airport. This must be due to the large group using water at the same time. However the problem was quickly resolved , in less than 5 minutes . Despite these problems , I would still recommend this hotel to those visiting Siem Reap as it is value for money . It is also within walking distance to the night markets. We had the priviledge to meet Peter, the managing director of the hotel, whom I have been communicating via email regarding room bookings and also our halal meals at the hotel. Plus sam the tuktuk driver, it makes a great place to stay.

Compared to some of the prices we paid in other cities on our tour, this was literally next to nothing. At first approaching the hotel, the area/location seemed a little sketchy, especially since we were unfamililar with Siem Reap. But upon checking in and even more so upon waking up in the morning, we were completely charmed and very happy with our decision to stay at the Angkor Pearl. The staff were all very friendly, professional, and very eager to make your stay pleasant. We had the fortune of meeting the owner of the hotel, who was very charming and also went out of his way to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel even offered complimentary transfer from airport to the hotel , which was fun and very convenient itself. The rooms are tastefully decorated, very spacious, have an authenticity in the way of decor, and very very clean. The cherry on top was the fruit bowl in our room every morning, complimentary. The bathrooms , though not luxurious, are spic-and-span. The breakfast buffet is gracious, if basic. Cambodian coffee was so delicious! we brought some home. We didn't get to try the spa amenities, so cannot speak to that, but they seemed fairly priced. The only thing this place is missing is a pool.
