5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2011

Delighted with our choice. The rooms & staff are all as good as the reviews.
We chose the hotel because of Sam, the reviews all mention Sam the tuk tuk man.
Good English, saves paying a guide if you just want basic information on the tours, friendly and humble with a modern tuk tuk.

If you go to Siem Reap / Angkor Wat (and you definitely should !) the best advise is to book this hotel (even if you can afford to spend more than the ca. 20 USD per room).
Good location, very kind and helpful staff, spacious room, free and fast wireless internet all-over the hotel (plus one freely available computer in the restaurant), well-functioning and quiet airco, large flatscreen tv, good bathroom / shower / bathtub and decent breakfast (choice of 5 sets for approx. 6 USD each; not included in room price).
The hotel has no baby cots available, but staff will do everything (eg. to put an additional mattres / bedlinen at no additional costs) to satisfy your wishes.

And for your trip to Angkor Wat (max. 30 minutes from the hotel), the famous Sam (who might await you at the reception) is probably one of the most knowledgeble and most friendly American speaking tuk tuk drivers in town (max. 15 USD / day). In case he is fully booked, he will kindly recommend one of the other hotel-related tuk-tuk drivers (but check their language skills first).

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in our first trip to Cambodia. A warm and friendly smile greeting you at the hotel entrance is a great way to end a long road trip from Thailand. A porter then took our luggage into a large clean air conditioned room filled with cable TV with 40+ channels, fridge, safe and free wi-fi. Unbeliveable euphoria filled our minds when we said to each other we only had to pay US$17 per night!!! The markets and nightlife (Pub Street) are only 10 minutes walk or a US$1-2 tuk tuk ride from the hotel. Excellent hotel in an excellent location. How can we or all the other Tripadvisor members be wrong? Go ahead and book this wonderful Gem.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay in the Angkor Pearl Hotel during our trip to SE Asia, the hotel is in what seems a bit of a back alley, but inside it's very spacious, clean and quite elegant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the room very large and with a nice comfy bed.

Tried the breakfast as well, and some cocktails and other items off the menu, and everything was very tasty, and cheap! Also it's in a great location near the main road in Siem Reap, so easy access to the city center with it's amazing restaurants, but also easy to get to Angkor Wat, be it by car or bike.

All in all an excellent bargain hotel choice!

This hotel is perfect for those looking to stay in a budget hotel. It's really nice and clean, and would say it's by far way above average compared to other budget hotels I have stayed at in South East Asia. The location is great, only 10 mins away from Pub Street & night market. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. They have a great manager who will make sure your room is reserved, and have someone there to pick you up from the Airport/Bus Stop. I had a great Tuk Tuk driver (sam) who spoke English very well. He's use to live in the states, so It was great to have someone I can understand. He's very organized, and put together a great plan to see the best temples in one day. Make sure you ask him to take you to see the the sun rise.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights in Jan 2011. We quite enjoyed our stay.

One highlight was finding Sam, our tuk tuk driver who is attached to the hotel. He drove us around the Angkor temples (you can tailor your own itinerary with him), charged very reasonable prices, his English is excellent (he has an American accent!), and always put in little touches that were really nice, like having cold towels and cold water bottles handy. He even bought us Cambodian snacks, like sticky rice and fried banana if we went on a longer trip. He made our whole stay in Siem Reap really enjoyable!

As for the hotel, the facilities were quite nice. The hotel is clean and comfortable, reliable AC and hot water, quite nicely appointed in general. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was decent. It wasn't particularly far from the main strip of Siem Reap either. Definitely a good value for money place to stay comfortably in Siem Reap.

The only things I can think of that weren't so great include:
- the internet was a bit choppy in our room. It was better in the lobby, but still sometimes slow.

- a troublesome check out: we booked our rooms and prepaid for them via credit card online, but it took ages come check out for the hotel to confirm this so were waiting in the lobby for a while
- there was a little pool/water fixture outside our room of stagnant water and seemed to be a breeding ground for mosquitos, which wasn't so nice. We never got bit much, though.

I booked this hotel due to the previous reviews and the great TripAdvisor coupon ($16/night). It is a very nice hotel with a friendly staff, though the highlight of the Angkor Pearl is their resident tuk-tuk driver Sam (he speaks perfect English). I contacted him in advance, and he was there waiting at the airport with a big smile and welcoming advice. After being greeted in the lobby with a cold towel and fresh juice, Sam sat with me to plan my next two days in Siem Reap. While my plans deviated after joining with another traveler the following morning at breakfast, Sam had no problem adjusting our itinerary on the fly (and even traveling to Beng Melea, Kbal Spean and Banteay Srei all in one day!). I highly, highly recommend using Sam and staying at the Angkor Pearl. Contact Sam in advance so you are assured of having him, his Facebook is Sam Tuktuk and his email is Samtuktuk@yahoo.com.
