“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We do not normally provide feedback on hotel stays but thought we would this time following an exceptional stay at the Rambutan Resort in Siem Reap.

From the beginning the quality of service was truly excellent. The hotel helped with advice and booking for transport and a guide for touring the temples. They also arranged a car to meet us at the airport and for our onward journey to Phnom Penh (also a Rambutan hotel), all of which were arranged with minimal fuss and complete reliability. (If touring the temples, I would definitely recommend a private driver / guide. For minimal cost it allowed us to get the most out of our time in Siem Reap.)

The hotel / resort is quite central and a short 10 minute walk to the centre (markets and Pub Street). It is less than 5 minutes ride in a Tuk Tuk. As it is quite central, it is in what is best described as a “working area” down a small-ish lane. Despite not being located with the large international hotels in a more “manicured” area of Siem Reap, we had no issues walking around and felt perfectly safe. In fact being in a more “genuine” area of Siem Reap, added to our Cambodia experience.

The Resort, whilst small is clean and has all the facilities you need including: a pool, bar and restaurant (shared with the related hotel just down the lane). The room was comfortable (with air-conditioning), quirky and much more interesting than staying at a larger international hotel chain, where frankly you could be anywhere in the world.

Whilst the hotel was very good, it was the helpfulness of the staff that made the stay exceptional and memorable. They were always courteous, helpful and willing to offer advice aspects of staying in Siem Reap. If you are looking for small boutique hotel that is more memorable than a large chain hotel, we would certainly recommend this one.

We had a great time here. The resort is lovely and a veritable sanctuary from the heat and noise of the town, with the pool etc. Good sized rooms and the staff are great - extremely polite and helpful.Good food also.We would definitely stay here again. Loved it. Seymour & Ingo.

After a snafu with a booking, we were given the Mimosa room, with a bath tub on the balcony.
First the negatives. This room is on the top floor, and is accessed by 2 sets of stairs. The first set of stairs is steep, so if you have difficulties in negotiating stairs then this room is not for you. The second set of stairs are not so bad, but they are a bit longer. All of the sliding locks on either the bathroom door or the balcony door and shutters don't actually line up so they don't really lock. While this is no problem as this room s on the top floor an only really accessible from the stairs, it was a little dissapointing detail.
Now the positives -
Staff excellent.
Facilities excellent.
Pool excellent.
The guys at reception will organise anything you need.
Trips to the temples can be charged to the hotel room. The driver we had was excellent.
Just organise what you want the day before and he will be there.
there seems to be some organisation from these tuk tuk guys as there was a menu of what prices were for the circuits you wanted to do around the temples.
We organised to have breakfast made for us to take on our early morning temple visits, but they were nothing much. Just a small baguette, which was nice and a croissant and some pineapple jam.
All in all a great place to stay and a great location to the town (just across the river).
Oh and the beds were comfortable as well, not like the usual asian type rock hard beds.

Room Tip: if you struggle with stairs don't get he mimosa room.

Visited Siem Reap in March 2015 with a friend. Rambutan Resort is a beautiful, small, and quiet sanctuary within the city not far from the night markets and yet a world away in terms of serenity.Rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The court yard and pool were quiet and wonderfully landscaped. Service is great. Tommy, the manager, is a font of information about temples, restaurants, and other attractions that are off the beaten tourist track. Transport to Rambutan from the airport and daily breakfast complementary. Will definitely stay there again when I return to Siem Reap. Family and gay friendly.

Room Tip: All the floors were quiet but recommend a room on the second or third floor. (You must be able to wa...

The Resort has a nice pool with the sunshine, all the staff are friendly and helpful, all the foods are fantastic .
And I don't think you could get better value for your money at any other hotel in Siem Reap.

A stone's throw away for the noise of market streets, Rambutan Resort is really peaceful and quiet. When you spent hours visiting temples everyday, it really feels good to go back and take a break by the pool. The rooms are simply very nice with their bathtub on the balcony. The staff is very nice and dedicated even if english is not easy all the time. The manager gave us very good advice for restaurants and shops.-Thanks again Breakfast is very nice too. And, cherry on the cake, I had the best massage in years, The (blind) guy is named LEAP, and I strongly recommend him.
I really think Rambutan is a great option when you get in Siem Reap, very laidback and cool !

Room Tip: Choose a room on second floor ;-) I guess its the quietest ones.

The Rambutan is a lovely retreat in a sometimes hectic place. Delicious breakfasts are included. The pool and garden are lovely and the staff was wonderfully responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in Siem Reap.

Room Tip: We had a wonderful two storey room but if you don't want steep stairs, ask for a regular room.
