“Great stay in Siem Reap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2011

Had a fantastic stay at Apsara, the staff were very helpful, included buffet breakfast was fantastic...except they kept bringing us more :) Delicious club sandwich from room service. It is not right in town but the tuk tuks are so cheap it is worth the ride into town to take it all in. Very small balcony. Nice pool. Highly recommened

My wife and I had a very nice stay at the Apsara Holiday Hotel recently. The common areas are lovely as is the pool and surrounding area. The rooms are spacious and attractive with good air conditioning. The beds were somewhat hard, but comfortable, with nice linens and comforters. The bathrooms are a bit tired looking and could use some updating. Water pressure in the shower was not great, and you could never count on having hot water. They have an exercise room but the equipment is pretty sad. It is also unairconditioned, and hot as an oven in the evenings.

The location is not the greatest, in that it is not really walking distance to the areas of Siem Riep that you will want to see, but it is only a $2 to $3 tuk tuk ride from town.

Hotel massage staff was very good and very reasonable by western standards, although much less expensive massages are available in town. It is worth the extra few $s to have the massage in your clean air conditioned room after a day walking around the Ankor Wat temples and palaces. They also do massages in the pool area, but I recommend against it unless it is mid-day, as the mosquitoes can be voracious. Be warned that the "traditional Khmer massage" is more akin to a Thai massage, with the customer fully dressed, and consists mostly of stretching. It is a great experience, but not what most westerners anticipate receiving as a massage. For the more traditional western style massage, ask for an "oil massage."

Breakfast was good, with fresh hot coffee (although I miss the sweetened condensed milk from Vietnam) with both Asian and western breakfast fare available. We had a lunch in the hotel, and the food was OK; much better food is available at most restaurants on Pub Street at very reasonable prices.

Management and staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating.

Although there are some areas for improvement in the physical structure, I would recommend the hotel for a pleasant stay when vising the Ankor complex.

I arrived at the hotel rather late as I was coming to Siem Reap to visit the temples for a couple of days, but was warmly greeted and welcomed. Complimentary refreshment on arrival and they checked me in while I was sitting outside relaxing. Excellent! Before that, I had arrived by bus from Phnom Penh and was picked up by a Tuk Tuk driver from the hotel (complimentary) and he actually became my Tuk Tuk driver around all the temple sites for the two days I was there. Ask for Haak or Sopeat.

The room was spacious although there was a slightly damp smell coming from somewhere. This soon disappeared once the aircon kicked in and the room cooled down. My room was on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the pool which was ideal.

The restaurant menu for dinner was limited, however it served until 2300 which suited me fine as I had arrived late. Breakfast buffet in the morning served a variety of foods with eggs cooked to order as well. I note that another review says there was old and cold coffee. This wasn't the case as there was a burner under the coffee pot and throughout breakfast, the staff were replenishing the juice, coffee and food regularly.

It was great to come back to the hotel after a long day visiting the temple sites around Siem Reap and although I didn't make use of the pool, I noticed that a lot of people did all evening, while I was relaxing on the balcony. There is also a spa / massage centre within the hotel that guests can make use of. I was way too tired to even contemplate that after being out all day!

In addition to all of this, the Wi-Fi internet connection was good and there were plenty of channels on the TV to choose from. My room was priced at $30 per night which I think is a bargain. I stay in many hotels in the UK with fewer facilities and they charge 5 times or more that price.

I would definitely stay here again should I return to Siem Reap, but more importantly, I would recommend it to other travellers. I guess it's so difficult choosing a decent hotel in this area as there are so many to choose from. Hope this helps a little.

Room Tip: Rooms 128 and 129 are at the end of the building with a balcony facing the pool, which smokers will...

The hotel's service is the best we've been served and the hotel’s food is the most tasty we've had in the journey ever before. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the hotel’s kind & special arrangement in the room for our honeymoon. We hope that we could come back to Seim Reap again and have accommodation in the Apsara Holiday Hotel again in the near future.

We checked in on 9 Oct 2011 to 12 Oct 2011. We were welcomed by staff with greetings and smile. Although it was a little bit early in the morning we were allowed to checked in after the room was clean. During our stay, the service rendered was good and our request was promptly attended. Well done

The hotel has proper and clean rooms, good beds. Make sure you're at the end of a corridor as it can be rather noisy when groups check in and find their rooms. The hotel thrives on busses of Asian tourist, and this can be seen in the quality of the breakfast. Hardly any bread, cheese or meat, old and cold coffee. I would not advice to have lunch or dinner here, there are some more restaurant within a kilometer down the road in the direction of Siem Reap, of hire a tuktuk driver for a ride into town (2 dollar).

Thank you very much for your feedback about our service.

We regret to hear that you were met an unpleasant experience during your stay with us. we're highlighted that those points coming from our food quality and service in restaurant.

We do understand that present is low and raining season here, this case, we try get more business from our neighbor countries such as Chinese/Vietnam/Korean, that why you found Asian tourist more than European and our breakfast serve for Asian food, but if you would require any extra service such as bread, toast, cheese we could serve you an American or Continental breakfast beside buffet.

I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused as we were unable to prevent what you need. Indeed,
