“Brilliant, love the people and the place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

I have spent time at Babel on a number of occasions and every time has been a pleasure! The staff are fantastic and they really make an effort to make you feel welcome every time you walk in the door. My favourite place is the Bar/Restaurant/Chill-out area...Davide and team have done a fantastic job, creating lots of cool sitting areas to chill, eat, drink, read or whatever...

The food is fantastic despite what a few reviewers have said, and exceptionally well priced! Amazing selection of cocktails, wines and beers...and a great location only 5 mins from Pub street or a short walk along the river.

I will return!!

What can i say! I've stayed in so called Boutique hotels that don't have the same charm and character as Babel. A very tasteful and relaxing atmosphere are complemented by polite staff, whom can speak a number of languages. The garden bar / restaurant was a great place to chill out after a day's sightseeing.
The owner, Davide was always helpful with travel plans and keen to make sure you avoided some local scams.
Keep up the good work.. I'll definitely be back again.

Wow!

After traveling the length and breath of South East Asia, Babel is a welcome sight for any weary traveler.

I was greeted with a warm and welcoming salutation from the owner who I later found out is an Italian and very well traveled man I might add.
The staff couldn't do enough for you, they were literally falling over each other just to put another cold beer in my hand !

My room was everything the Koh San Road wasn't ; cool, clean, bright, quiet, oder free and with ample amounts of hot water to ease away the stresses of the road.
The level of service was exceptional nothing was too much and every request was met with the broad faced smiles of the staff.

For those of you that enjoy a quiet drink and want to yarn the night away the owner is very accommodating, I would recommend the Martini Bianco - a house special, served with a twist of Italian flare.

Grazie Babel !

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor towards the back were perfect for me.

I'm Italian, so sorry for my poor english.
I went in this Guest house to spend my Christmas holiday with my boyfriend. What a mistake! Apparentely seems a quite and nice place, quite far from the center of the city, so not the best location, but we didn't mind.
At Christmas eve, after having dinner, we come back to the hotel and we find two bed bugs on the bed. We put them in a glass of water and went to the director, an italian men (with my great sorrow), and told him what we found. He started to accuse us to have brought the bed bugs from another place on purpose to not pay the bill!!!!
Took me a few minutes to understand what the hell he was saying even if he spoke to me in italian! I can't report everything (I could do it in italian), but I work for tourist groups and I never had such a bad experience. The director behavior was arrogant, insulting and unacceptable. Fortunately my boyfriend calms me down and the day after we change hotel.
About the hotel I have to confirm poor breakfast and menu overpriced.

My friends and I stayed here for a week. It was gorgeous, clean and the most helpful staff ever, as soon as they saw you they woulkd great you with a big smile and ask what they could do - if it was 4 in the morning or 4 in the afternoon they would arrange washing, massages, tours and tuk tuks. The rooms were beautiful and clean, the bathrooms positively luxurious compared to the standarded and the outdoor area idyllic and relaxed. Breakfast was included and all the other food and drink delicious, as well as free wifi and a computer to use. Next door was a beautiful pool with deck chairs you could use for a small fee. The guest house was tucked away down a quite back road but only $1.50 tuk tuk to Pub Street and the main shopping areas so perfect.

I've been to tens and tens of hotels and guesthouses in Southeast Asia, but this is the most friendly and helpful of the lot. The rooms aren't Raffles quality, but who cares when the place is clean and nice, the staff friendly, and the Norwegian owners the most helpful and sweet people you can find anywhere. Price is very good, and location spot on. For me this is the home away from home in Southeast Asia.
