“In Chobe National Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Good starting point for trips into the Chobe National Park. The nearest town (Kasane) can be reached by taxi in a few minutes. a shopping center is next to the lodge. The staff is generally friendly and competent.

Room Tip: Upper floors are louder

My wife and I stayed at Chobe Safari Lodge for a couple of nights at the end of an extended self-drive and really enjoyed the experience. Staff were certainly friendly and helpful. The location within Kasane is good (but know you really are in town). The lodge offers a great number of activity options (group sizes in some cases are quite large though). Our only heads-up for travellers would be that some of the rooms (e.g. chalets) are in need of some updating though the main lodge building is new and very nice, and that cost of meals (not included in our room price) are quite expensive while there are almost no options to eat out in Kasane. The lodge is in a good location to facilitate self-drive or guided excursions into Chobe Park (which is outstanding).

Room Tip: The chalets are a bit old and need of updating. Although they are in the premium locations, you may...

Basically a good place to stay - easy to get to from the border crossing, right on the Chobe River and very close to the National Park. The accommodation we had was clean and very spacious - the gardens are lovely with lots of animals including Mongoose and Pumba roaming freely. Its a busy place and the food is self-serve buffet but with a good choice.

Nice grounds, everything you need here. Rooms nice and clean and large. Activities easy to arrange. Check in isn't until 2pm.
Was a bit dissapointed that at this price you don't get breakfast included. All meals were extra and quite expensive. We didn't eat here but walked into town where there are only 1-2 places to eat.
Also spent a night at campsite - small spots but secluded and good facilities and can use lodge grounds and facilities too.
Spa a bit run down but massage was good.

Very disappointed at the overall experience of this Lodge. It is very expensive in relation to the guest experience. The food is POOR. The service on the pool deck is slow, I had to call the waiter to service us drinks. Wi-Fi did not work the entire time we were at the Lodge, this was one of the attractions. Motor boats go up and down the river the entire day, not a peaceful moment to relax. Staff are friendly when you interact with them. Will not be back.

Room Tip: Don't take a room on the river, speed boats all day up and down

We spent two nights here and enjoyed both the rondaval's and the second night a room in the two story newer accomodation. The Rondavals are right on the Chobe/Zambezi river and have spectacular view right from your front door. The two story complex is a litle farther away from the river and you have a partial river view. The food at the main resort was very good and the selection was very great, from sea food, to local beef, to many salads and deserts. We took a day trip to Victoria Falls and enjoyed our day their also. Transportation to the Falls is quite easy to arrainge at the Lodge office. The lodge is remote but very close to Kasane town for services like banking, fuel, restaurants, stores etc.
