The park is located to the Chobe River. The area of Chobe NP covers 12,000 km2. The park is not fenced, animals migrate freely between Chobe, Moremi, Hwange and nature reserves in the Caprivi Strip. With about 70,000 specimens, the elephant population of Chobe is the largest in the world. The African wild dog takes a special place. On this endangered species was until recently widely hunted for the alleged damage to the local animals. An estimated half of the African common wild dogs live in the triangle Moremi-Chobe-Hwange.
