“Smelly and dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014 via mobile

This was among the worst places we stayed in 3 months of traveling South America. The original room we looked at was booked when we came back from isla del sol, and unfortunately the replacement room was horrible. The smell in the bathroom was putrid and nauseating, it even kept us up at night. The windows did not close in the room or bathroom and were big enough for someone to enter, leaving us feeling a bit unsafe. The beds were not clean and were lumpy... I was thankful for my sarong which I put down before sleeping on it.

The only positive were the price ($10 or 70 bol for a matrimonial room) and the staff was very nice. It was also relatively quiet because it was away from the main road. Stay away if you are in town for more than a few hours, otherwise enter at your own risk.

For 100bs/£10 a night I couldn't really complain. The bed was a double but a bit lumpy and had my own loo and shower room. They weren't the cleanest but perfectly fine.Cold showers were refreshing after the hot days and walking around. cheap and cheerful! lovely staff and family friendly.

We had stayed at the Hostal Flores de Lago the previous night but were so p*ssed off at the poor service and room we decided to move and booked a double in this place for 40 BOL each, so £8 for the room. The wifi didn't work unfortunately. The room was fairly clean and the bed had enough blankets on to keep us warm as the rooms are not heated. The bathroom is very, very basic and can't comment on shower as we didn't use it. It appears fairly secure in there and the staff were polite and let us leave out bags while we went on a day trip. Overall, cheap and cheerful for £8 a night.

We stayed just one night in a private double. The sheets were stained, but 'washed' but the blanket was dirty. The bathroom was bare and had no toliet paper. The room was simple and basic and reception vagely helpful. They didnt provide any info about Isla Del Sol which surprised us. We didn't leave our bags here on our Isla Del Sol trip and found somewhere else.
It is however cheap, and has a good location.

the beds are really bad, like curve ... the shower wasn't reaaly hot, the wifi wasn't working, for that we wanted to discuss with the staff to pay less, but the guy wasn't able to call his chef to talk with him. they don't have a guest book (of course !) and they don't care that we say that we were going to let bad messages on tripadvisor and on the lonelyplanet ...

This hostel was the worst I have stayed in during 2 months of travel in South America. The beds are really crappy, I couldn't even find the shower because it was just this thing hanging in the toilet. Staff isn't very helpful either.

I paid 40 B for a small single room. I had to share a bathroom, I normally wouldn't mind this, however, it was disgusting. It smelled really badly, dirty, and there was no toilet paper. I asked for the bathroom to be cleaned, it took 3 hours and another request only for the floor to get a little wipe. I also asked for toilet paper, and was told only private rooms got this. The owner/manager was also extremely rude to me when I asked for these things! I only stayed one night. Worst place in 4 months travel in Latin America.
Be patient and shop around...
