“A decent hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2008

I stayed at this hotel from March 2nd to March 6th. The hotel is centrally located in the "Prado" area. It is a high rise with 12 floors. My room was on the top floor. It had great city views.

Luxury is a stretch when describing this place. The rooms look a bit dated, similar to most average American motels. My particular room did not have A/C although I know that other rooms do have it. The free Wi-Fi is decent but i wish I also had the choice to connect via cable. The hotel should consider providing a daily bottle of water like most other Bolivian hotels. Nevertheless, the service provided by their personnel makes up for these minor shortcomings. Faviola and Miguel at the front desk were superb!

In sum, if you are looking for a decent priced hotel that is service oriented and covers the basics, then this is a hotel you should seriously consider.

I've stayed at the Hotel Diplomat on two occasions, the staff is friendly enough, and some rooms have nice views of the city. But the rooms are decorated like a motel 6, and the wireless internet barely works. But you probably won't find anything nicer here.

Stayed at the Diplomat for work, but it would also be a great choice for personal travel.

Perfect location, nice rooms with comfortable beds and cable TV, friendly staff, free internet in the business center, etc. I can´t think of any downsides.

If you stay here, a restaurant called Brazilian Coffee, half a block down the street, is a great place to grab lunch, dinner, or just (as the name implies) coffee.

This is a very pleasant hotel located directly in the heart of Cochabamba on El Prado, the main street in the city. The junior suites (about $80 per night) offer plenty of space and if you have a room facing El Prado, you will have a great view of the city, the mountains, and the huge mountain top statute of Jesus which is an exact replica of the one in Rio (only bigger). The restaurant is fine and the breakfast that they offer is simple yet varied. Best of all is the staff. They were extremely helpful and there was always someone at the front desk who spoke English competently. They really seemed to want me to enjoy my stay. The small computer room offered free, all-day and night internet service. There is no pool or gym. A taxi stand is located directly in front of the hotel. Finally, Cochabamba is located at 8500 feet so the altitude is really not a problem at all (unlike La Paz). It's a perfect place to spend a few days getting acclimated to the altitude of the Andes before moving to higher ground.
