I could see that the Common Man was a group of restaurants so I expected a more Chain like atmosphere. Ashland NH did not have a lot of local restaurants near us. But we were more than pleasantly surprised. There is actually a cheese and cracker bar for diners who have to wait to be seated or want a snack before dinner arrives. The building we were told was an older store that was extended to a barn on the grounds. Very rustic and New England. Lots of antiques , old wooded beams, etc. Dinners include bread salad and the entree prices from $15 to MP. The portions are probably enough for two people especially if you want to share a dessert. One entree was the stuffed Chicken breast. A panko encrusted breast over stuffing with a light gravy, butternut squash and choice of potato. The other entree was schnitzel of pork - 2 large pieces was quite more than expected. On the negative side the salad which had very good dressing, was the kind that comes from a bag and I can always tell by the taste or aftertaste, which I don't like. Didn't have room or need for the dessert and we took half of each meal home for another time. Total for dinner with one drink, no coffee or tea $50 some dollars. We will definitely look for other Common Man restaurants while in New England. Excellent waiter, general service.
