“Kids liked it! Parent didn't.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

The park is rundown. Everywhere I looked needed maintenance. The campsite was in the woods and it wasn't raked before our visit so trash was everywhere on the ground. It was next to route 132 which is next to route 93 so the noise from the highway was unbearable at night. We had to buy earplugs the second day just to sleep. The 3 day they locked 4 bathrooms for "deep cleaning" 1 mens and womans room to serve that part of the campground. That created lines of people to go the bathroom. The pool needed a cleaning and the fun zone is dated. Some of the staff don't lift a finger especially the employee down near the river who oversees the rentals. The positives a character visited our kids everyday. The bathrooms are clean we saw them being cleaned daily. The activities are great and held hourly my kids loved them. They also liked the pedal carts. We rented a canoe and did the Pemi river. They had movies every night. The beach on the river was clean. The pool was was cool and refreshing. The office employees were average with some employees better than others. My only suggestion don't stay there on weekends. we stayed Wednesday to Saturday and the clientele on weekends is different than during the week.

Thank you for submitting your feelings you experienced while staying at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Ashland NH. These websites provide us with important valuable comments from our campers.

It is not my intent to offer excuses to you or debate the issues you encountered while camping at the park, however let me address your concerns. I am very sorry for the experience of our Deep Clean process. It is an inconvenience to our guests when we have to close down a bathroom for deep cleaning, but we try to do it as quick as possible. Future planning is underway to ensure that there is a more effective process when deep cleaning a bath house. I apologize for any staffing issues you may have had as well. If you find yourself back at the park and ever experience a matter like that again, please don’t hesitate to have my paged and the matter will be addressed immediately. As you may or may not know we have a large variety of campsites at Jellystone. If you are ever unhappy with your assigned site one of our reservationists will be happy to assist you in finding a new one to better your stay.

As stated in other posts we are currently working on a lot of repairs, remodel and additions for the 2013 season. We are working very hard to make sure that this is going to be a very exciting year for our guests!

Thank you again for sharing your camping experience with us. Your specific comments have been very helpful. We are truly sorry that your expectations were not met but hope you will give us another chance to earn back your trust.

My first impression was ok, had read the reviews but was still trying to keep an open mind. It is everything negative that people have said and more. Will not go there again even if my kids begged me to go. Cabin, bathroom, campsite, fire pit all dirty with left overs from previous campers. Unfriendly staff, overworked. Worst of all out of our 3 rented cabins with our party of 11 kids & 5 adults: 2 adults had the worst case of poison oak ever seen now out of work, sick call.Taking 10 day course of prednisones. 2 of our kids also got it also.Don't go down that trail from rustic cabins 227/228/225 towards the back of the store. I feel that is where the poison oaks are.I called to report this incidence but the 50 something year old woman i spoke to did not seem to care or listen to what I told her. Watch out rest of you campers. You might bring home unwanted rashes that last for a month. Beware!

Good Day!

All campsites are supposed to be cleaned prior to a camper's arrival. Occasionally, a camper arrives before their particular site has been cleaned. In this instance, the escort service should arrange immediate clean up. Next time, if you arrive at a site which is not cleaned to your standards, please do not hesitate to bring this matter to the escorter's immediate attention. Your satisfaction with your site's cleanliness is of utmost importance to us and a dirty campsite is an oversight on our part which is easily resolved. In reply to your comments regarding a bad experience with an employee of ours, please accept my personal apologies for their rudeness or carefree attitude. Much time and effort is spent in our hiring and training process. You can rest assured rude behavior is not tolerated. In the future, please bring any incident to the immediate attention of a supervisor, or Manager on Duty and it will be resolved immediately. We encourage all guests in the park as explained in the rules of the campground to follow the roadways for safety. Weeds, tree roots, and different kinds of poisons such as Poison Oak may grow in the wild, and be unsafe and that is why urge guests not to cut through unmarked pathways. I truly apologize that you experienced Poison Oak while staying at the park.

We are currently working on a lot of repairs, remodel and additions for the 2013 season. We are working very hard to make sure that this is going to be a very exciting year for our guests!

Thank you again for sharing your camping experience with us. Your specific comments have been very helpful. We hope that we can win back your trust one day in the near future!

I though I was prepared for our visit at Jellystone but not even close. We were unfortunate to get a site next to the bathrooms. The electric hand dryer going off all night was frustrating enough but then on top of it they had a ash tray out front of the bathroom. We enjoyed the smell of cigarettes all night and was especially fun when we were eating our meals outside 3 feet away from the smokers.

The campground offers very little shade from the sun and found it hard to stay outside too long as it was hot and there was constantly dust everywhere. On the first night (we stayed a full week) Yogi came to our site. He and his assistant didn't want to wait til we got our camera but told us that was okay because they would come by every night. They never came by the site again so that didn't work out???

My kids are teens so I have to say that alot of the activities were just too young which doesn't reflect on the park. They did enjoy the water slides, candy bingo and ceramics. They didn't enjoy the pool and said it was dirty. I went to check and realized the the pool needed to be painted and that there was big areas where the pool had patches that had come off. The water was cloudy and hard to see through. We did go down to the beach several times the water was really clean but there was lots of trash on the beach itself.

Driving through the park was an adventure all in itself. Very young children would come flying down the hill and not look where they were going. Children and adutls would walk in the middle of the street not seeming to hear or care that there was a line of cars behind them.

Overall this place has potential as the bathrooms were cleaned and the workers (an army of teenagers) were nice. They need more shade, less dust, and someone supervising the 100s of children that seem to wander without supervision. Definately won't be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a treed site. Wish I had known that!

Good Day!

Thank you very much for sharing your honest feelings and comments with us regarding your last camping visit at Jellystone Park. Our campers' opinions and experiences are very important to us. It is not my intent to offer excuses, however let me address your concerns.

It is unfortunate you did not like your site assignment. At Jellystone Park there is a large variety of sites. We are always happy to change a camper's site when possible. Even though a specific site request can not be guaranteed, efforts are made in order to get campers the areas requested. There are some beautiful shaded and private sites which can be requested. I am sorry you were unhappy with your site assignment though. It is unfortaunate that you were bothered by smokers. Our camp-resort is not a non-smoking campground, although we do have areas of which are non smoking. (All buildings, rentals, pool, snack bar, and pavilions).

We truly apologize for not being able to get a picture with Yogi during your first site visit night. In your comment card, you mentioned that Yogi did not visit your site during the rest of your stay. Site visits by one of the bears begins each season the end of June when our full activities program begins. During peak season (late June - Labor Day), one of the bears visits sites almost every Sunday - Friday evenings. If a camper is not at their site when a bear visits, the bear does not return to that site again until the next scheduled site visit activity. I am unaware of what happened, but again truly apologize.

Everyone is expected to act courteously to one another. Please rest assured, the staff at Jellystone Park has little tolerance for flagrant behavior whether it be a child or adult. There is no roaming after 10pm and before 8am. Though we can't control a persons behavior, we do our best to monitor inappropriate behavior. In the future, please bring a matter like this to our immediate attention and you may rest assured that the situation will be corrected.

Our pool is operated based on suggested health and safety codes. Although, during busy periods the pool may get cloudy at times, the chemicals are checked every 1-2 hours/7 days a week while open. Rest assure if it was unsafe to swim, the pool wouldn't be open.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to let us know how you feel. For over 30 years we've worked very hard to provide a truly memorable camping experience to our guests. Sorry, in this case we failed you. Hopefully you'll give us one more chance to provide a great camping experience to you! Looking forward to having you camp at Jellystone Park again!

Happy Camping!

Our site was filthy. Not raked or put back together. Bathrooms so disgusting. When we complained the office staff was rude and acted like they didn't care.

Just grossness everywhere. Mold in pool area and lounge chairs dirty. New waterslide area is muddy and overall a huge turnoff.

Will not return. If you can't respond politely to a complaint then you don't deserve return visitors.

In reply to the cleanliness of the facilities, the comfort stations are continuously cleaned over 16 hours per day. However there may be times during a high use period or a time when an unusual mess is made when a normally clean bathroom becomes dirty. In general, because of our continuous cleaning policy this problem does not exist for any length of time. Many times a camper will report a messy situation to our attention and a housekeeper will respond immediately. All of our Housekeepers use the proper commercial cleaning supplies and chemicals. You can rest assured our campers' health, welfare and safety is important to us.

In reply to your comments regarding a bad experience with an employee in our store/office, please accept my personal apologies for their rudeness. You can rest assured rude behavior is not tolerated. In the future, please bring any incident to the immediate attention of a supervisor.

Our pool is operated based on suggested health and safety codes. Our chemicals are checked every 1-2 hours for safety. Part of our 2013 project list is remodeling the large swimming pool. We hope that our guests will enjoy all the work we are putting into this area. The Fun Zone was new for 2012 and was a learning curve for us. We have worked out what we hope is all of the cleaniness issues of mud in that area.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to let us know how you feel. For over 30 years we've worked very hard to provide a truly memorable camping experience to our guests. Too many people are crammed into a small space with limited bathrooms which ran out of toilet paper daily. The pool and the water slides are dirty. It is overpriced considering the poor condition of the amenities. The only positive comment I can make is that my son did like the bikes that could be rented the fee is good for your entire stay.

The place is technically everything it advertises, but the cleanliness and atmosphere are that of a redneck, beat up old campground that had it better day 15 years ago. There are plenty of people working, but the over site of management is terrible. I saw the water slides girls sit on her bench for 2 hours straight, from 9 til 11am instead or prepping and picking up her work area. The maintenance man strung a 3 hour roofing job into 9 hours, getting an hour of overtime. The bathroom cleaning ladies picked up trash, but never actually cleaned anything in the bathrooms.. The apples under the tree near the daily hay rides should be raked up, to keep bees away and make things neater... Bottom line, everything is run down and I won't go back to this place.. I could go on and on, but we won't go back and I would suggest you try another place to begin with. fyi we have camped at over 30 campgrounds in New England in the last 5 years.

Room Tip: Don't book a cabin near the highway, unless you love the sound of trucks at night..

We were there August 8-14 little kids had fun but the park is old and not very well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. Not the best campground but not the worse either, tons of activities for kids. Don't think we would stay here again but mostly due to the fact that I want to go to a more modern campground.
