Thank you for a wonderful stay at your lodge. We were here for 9 days for a geologic business trip and this hotel is centrally located to our field sites. Everything was sparkling clean and comfortable. Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever! Would definately recommend to others traveling in this area.

This was a great little place to stay in a pretty little town just downwind of gorgeous mountains. We had a clean, comfortable room for under $90, a bargain this trip. Owner was a nice lady with a great wide open western laugh. Another sweet little lady cleaned our rooms which were spotless. We could walk to cafe, bank, grocery store, liquor store and next door was a fun little eatery called the Itti Bitti Bistro. We enjoyed visiting with other guests under a big crab apple tree in the shade. Woke up to deer sleeping under the tree where we sat the night before. All in all this was a highlight of our trip. Rooms had satelite TV, refridge, micro, coffee, free wifi, free local calls, air conditioing and home made soap gift.

This motel is an old-style place, right downtown, that has been kept up quite nicely. Our room was on the small side, and much of the space was taken up by the double bed and sofa. Bath was small too, with a tiny shower stall. There were nice furnishings, all Western decor, and a fridge and microwave were included. The wi-fi worked fine. There is no coffee in the room, but there are two breakfast joints within one block. Our rate in August was $84 plus tax.

We picked this mom & pop motel because of the location and the price. We booked well ahead of time and talked to a pleasant man on the phone a couple of times, because we needed to get a larger room because my adult son was going to be with us. He had a two bedroom suite for us. The key was left under the mat. The parking is in back and close to our room. If you are looking for a modern place to stay, this is not for you. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was interesting – kind of like what I remember going to grandma’s house in the old days. But it was OK and clean. Each bedroom had a TV, but they did not work very well. But we didn’t care. We don’t go on vacation to watch TV. There was a small frig which was nice. And books to read and games. The bed was small but comfortable. The problem we had was the walls were paper thin. We were on the 1st floor – the people above us arrived late and made lots of noise and it seemed like elephants were walking around. The next night was better. Our bill was screwed up a bit, but the owner fixed it with no problem. The lady doing the cleaning was very friendly. If were to return, we would pick a room on the upper level. The area is beautiful, be sure to take a trip on hwy 78 to Nye and then to Fish Tail. You will see lots of cattle and mule deer & a great view of the Beartooth mountains.

We called at 10:30 pm (due to a horrible 3 hours at the Lupine Inn in Red Lodge, MT) and the woman on the phone pleasantly said, "yes, they did have a room open that night!" The front desk was closing (we were about 45 minutes away) so she took my credit card number and said she would leave the key under the doormat.
We were just hoping for a clean place with an air-conditioner. We pulled into a homey, comfortable, beautifully decorated (fishing themed), extremely CLEAN room... with complimentary homemade soap in the bathroom! :) It was so quiet and the beds were so comfy that we slept much later than we intended. It was also $65 dollars cheaper than the hotel we left due to poor service and a horrible room! There was no breakfast here but we walked down the road to the rose cafe and enjoyed a great brunch.
We do a lot of hunting and fishing and plan to make many trips to this area. We would stay here again and again!

Room Tip: Room 1 is on the road, but we never heard a bit of traffic!

I had one more night after 11/2 weeks of backpacking and 2 days of solo day hikes in mt before going on a sierra club backpack for 8 days in the beartooths. I spent that night at this modest and homey little lodge in downtown absarokee. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable and the decor was great. Really, all I wanted was a clean and comfortable place to spend the night and I was pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this mom and pop motel.
