“Good place for it's value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Fairfield Inn is in a great location for a simple overnight stay, close to shopping which was the nature of our stay. Fairfield Inn is clean, the service is good, and it included a hot breakfast. We did find it a little hard to find, easily seen from the main highway, but access is from Opdyke Road and not well marked, but if you find the Wendy's/Tim Hortons it is located directly behind them.

Room Tip: if you stay here, you need to go to Alfocciono's Italian restaurant, it's about 1/2 mile dow...

To start off I am true Marriott Fan, Plat. Elite Member for many years but Marriott sincerely forgot about this motel, exactly the same it was 15 years ago and at that time it was old. Icy dangerous stair cases, blood in the entry way carpet of 302, dated in the 90's exterior and interior, no upgrades for platinum members, wallpaper is bubbled with scrubbed away mold n the bathroom, exterior keys work only if your lucky. Had to change all keys so don't leave the room for a smoke and remember the gator claws for your shoes. For Marriott a ranking of barely 1 but for all others a rank of 3-, the good, nice lady at front desk at night, good bed fairly clean room except the disturbing carpet stains. Very Dated.

I stayed here on business and the client chose this as it was slightly less expensive than the Hyatt Place down the road. Usually, Marriott is my first choice, however, I would have rather stayed elsewhere. And, had I checked the hotel before having the company travel agent book it, I would have chosen elsewhere as there outside hallways - meaning the doors open outside and not to an indoor hallway.

Check In was very easy and the staff was extremely friendly. Upon entering the room, I thought it was very average and clean. The bathroom is tiny and the sink area offers very little counter space. It was nice to have quite a large variety of channels on the tv.

Every plug that I used was old and the cords would not stay plugged in - with the exception of the plug in the bathroom. The tub drained very slowly so I showered in water up to my ankles.

The bed was comfortable but my sleep was not great as the wall heater/ac unit was extremely loud. This made it very challenging to get sleep and the temperature could not seem to regulate so I went from hot to cold to hot, etc.

Breakfast was average - the basic spread that most hotels serve for their free breakfast. It did the job and I don't have any complaints where this is concerned. In addition, the eating area was large and clean, which is nice considering many hotels I have been in lately seem to not keep the area clean/tables wiped off/etc.

Overall, they stay was ok - it did the job. I am not sure if I would choose to stay here again, I would probably choose another hotel in the area. However, if this was the only place with rooms available, I could definitely manage.

I've stayed at a lot of Marriott properties and in thus have a high rank with Marriott rewards system, people complain that it's an old hotel and why does it have outside access or it's an old hotel, here's what I have to say, if it's not broke don't fix it. Staff was wonderful, Anthony and Tony were VERY helpful kudos to them for being so young in the hospitality business. I had a problem with opening my door on the 3rd floor and it was around 11:30 at night, I was surprised to still see Anthony there talking with Lenard! I ask Lenard to redo my keys and he was very funny and helpful as well. Anthony decided to come up and make sure my key was working properly, now when a worker has punched out but STILL helps you even though their shift is done says a lot about them. Room was excellent, Breakfast was fantastic, Housekeepers were very fast and efficient when I needed something, I will be staying with this Marriott property quite often!

It was the 3rd room before we had a heater that worked. This 3rd room heater was very noisey, needed maintaince. Hair found on bath enclosure and on bath towel. Frig and micro did not work. Very noisey room, heard every step on floor above. Overall very poorly maintained accomodations. Will not stay there again.

Room Tip: Pick a top floor,no footsteps heard. Stay away from express way side.

The toilet worked - intermittently. The sink was stopped up and had to remove the stopper-it was gross, full of black crud. The tub was rotting away from the floor and the door jam had rust poorly covered by paint. If Marriottt was smart this property would be leveled so it doesn't besmirch the name of the company.

Room Tip: Go somewhere--anywhere--else and the rooms will be better

Marriot is never my 1st choice but this one was average at best. The location is not very good not close to anything. No good places to eat very close. The room i was in smelled like smoke but it is a non smoking hotel. The whole floor plan of the place is very odd. Almost like it was a motel but then they changed the plan half way through constuction. The elevator is in the entrance then it takes you to a open area and you have 2 locked doors to different hallways...just very strange. The staff however were very nice. Polite and they did give me a great reccomendation on a place to eat. Do not think I would stay there again.
