“Adequate Room But Location, Location, Location Right?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2009

This hotel is on the outskirts of Ann Arbor; however, it is ideal for those who want to attend the Big House for home games on Saturdays. The hotel is located at the rear of a large complex of hotels which makes it hard to see from the street. The reception area is bright and the staff well mannered. The rooms are small but the beds are comfortable. I did not like having the sink outside of the bathroom though. There is enough space for two people - any more and it would feel cramped - and you better want to be a cuddler if you want to sleep two people to each bed :-) The free continental breakfast was adequate and quirky as one can make their own fresh waffles if one decides. I would have expected to pay less had I not know how close the hotel is to the University of Michigan.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn Ann Arbor for one night driving through to Mackinac Island. We arrived around 8pm on a Friday night. Check in was smooth. They were scrubbing the lobby though and the floors were quite wet.
Our room was fine- the king bed was nice. The room was clean. Wireless internet worked well.
The free breakfast was nice- waffle maker, fruit, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches, etc.
Check out was smooth. This hotel is fine for a stopover; not much more though

Stayed here one night during a driving trip to the midwest. The hotel staff was friendly, the lobby area was clean and the rooms were solid Fairfield quality.

The breakfast was plentiful (and the waffle station proved quite popular). My only complaint was that the dairy products in the small fridge were not cold--only slightly cool. I stayed away--and that isn't the impression you want people to have about the food you offer them. Everything seemed well stocked, including the coffee!

The pool area seemed quite nice (and popular with the families), and the workout facilities were simple but solid.

The previous reviewers' comments about the hotel being hard to find are dead on. Even remembering that, and having a detailed set of directions, we still had to turn around twice. I highly recommend that the hotel put up some signage on the main road that can more easily direct folks to the hotel. The hotel certainly isn't going to get ANYONE there that doesn't already have a reservation--it is just too hard to find (and you drive by other chains on the way).

  • Liked — Reliable service, good breakfast
  • Disliked — location

Stayed here during the Nascar Race. Room was clean and modern. Had 2 comfortable double beds, with extra pillows already provided. Very close to shopping, restaurants and the highway. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Free buffet breakfast was very good and had a wide range of options. Pool and hot tub area were clean and bright. The only downside to this hotel is that it is a little hard to find as it is in the back of the Marriott complex. Also TV only had about 20 free channels, I guess I'm just used to the sattelite at home. If you wanted pay per view there were movies and tv on demand. All in all, I would have no problems recommending this hotel and would use it again in the future.

We decided to stay at the Fairfield Inn based on previous stays at this chain. What a mistake!

To start at the beginning:
1. We tried to check in at 3:15, but were told our room was not ready despite the posted check-in time of 3:00. We left and came back at 3:50. STILL not ready. We waited a few minutes and finally were checked in. I will say that the front desk lady was nice about it, if nothing else.

2. So, we get on the elevator. It's dirty. The elevator was also making some incredibly uncomfortable clunking noises as if we would soon be plummeting three stories down whether we liked it or not.

3. Off the elevator. The hallways are dirty. Do they sweep this place?

4. The room is, thankfully, clean. Not very big, but the flatscreen TV was nice. However, the remote didn't work very well!

5. The bathroom looked as if it was in serious need of an update. The water also wasn't very hot.

A couple of positives:
1. I was absolutely shocked when I turned on the laptop and the wi-fi was immediately recognized and working. Shocked and amazed.

2. The bed was pretty nice. The kind that you sort of sink into. I would not have been surprised at creaky springs and a .25 cent slot for the old vibrating bed trick, but it wasn't a bad bed.

We paid $99 for the room. Honestly, that's about $79 too much. I've never stayed in one of the truly "budget" motels, but this one could not possibly be much better than those.

  • Liked — Wi-fi and the bed.
  • Disliked — Everything else.

The room was brightly and cheerily decorated.

The Bed was extremely comfortable with a lot of pillows.

The room was clean as was the bathroom.

The view we had in this room wasn't great (the roof of pool room), but we weren't there for the view. The rest of the rooms seemed to have a standard view.

  • Liked — The comfy bed and cheery room
  • Disliked — The view of our room

Read the review about the problem with the fitted sheets and didn’t understand, now I do, the sheet comes off and attacks you in the night! They need to work on that.

We stayed for a few days and the second day they took the used soap and shampoo out of the shower but left no new ones.

The pool was a bit cool but you could get used to it after awhile.

Great hi def TV, no hi def stations or movies everything looks a bit distorted.

No glasses just foam coffee cups.

I guess I just expect a bit more from a Fairfield Inn then say a Red Roof.
