I'm not sure what to say about the Campus Inn. It was...well, just okay. I got a great deal on the room, so I didn't pay the usual high prices. If I had, my disappointment would be much more tangible.

The good:
-decent places to eat nearby
-pretty nice rooms
-right by central campus
-free bus to North campus

The bad
-a real business center with computer access would be good. They have two computers set up in a little room where you stand to check email and whatnot. Keyboards were wireless and usually the batteries were dead.
-fitness center under construction (should tell guests this when they book as many like myself book hotels with the fitness center in mind)
-for the average price, should include breakfast of some sort.

Overall, just an average sort of experience. Not what you would expect for the looks of the place or the price.

I have stayed at this hotel many times - the biggest reason is location. It is very convenient if you are visiting the University - it's close to central campus and not far from north campus. My issues with this hotel are multiple...

First, I think it is certainly overpriced. The shower/bathtub is very, and I mean very small - oh and if you're not careful, you will likley hit your elbow on the soap dish after washing your hair because there is truly just not enough room to move.

Another issue is the staff - and this is not all staff - but there are several that are not friendly. Namely, one of the hostesses at Victor's (the onsite restaurant) - who sat me without saying one word. Perhaps she was having a bad day, and if it ended there, that would have been fine. However, there was also the disrespectful bartender who actually refused to serve me a glass of red wine because I indicated that I was going to take it back to my room. (Apparently, this is a no-no per the owner..). In any case, it was handled inappropriately and with complete disregard for the guest. I could go on, but will only mention my latest incident. On my past visit I left my glasses... I realized they might be there and made the call to the hotel once I got home. Needless to say, the gentleman that I spoke with said they were there and asked how I would like them sent back to me as well as how I was going to pay. After we determined that he would charge my credit card, I asked whether or not they would have made the effort to call me, and he replied with "I'm not sure what the policy is around lost and found". Hmmm... you don't? I left the hotel this AM and now it's 9 hours later.. you clearly found the glasses, but weren't going to call and let me know? Interesting... and I must say that I expect more from a "premium property".

Bottom line is.... If you are looking for a place where you don't care about the cost and don't have to interact with staff much, this might be the place to stay. For the rest of you folks that are looking for a nice place, with a considerate and respectable staff, who actually appreciate that you are staying at their property, I suggest you move on.

I've stayed at the Campus Inn a lot. It was a disappointment to find out at check in that the exercise room was under construction and the alternative was a University facility far across campus. But at least they are doing some updating. The hotel needs it Food and room service were better but could still be better. And still no free wireless internet in the room. It's overpriced for the experience.

Our Food and Beverage goal for 2008 is to exceed all expectations and I welcome any suggestions to help us achieve that mission. Complimentary wireless internet is available in the restaurant, lobby, meeting rooms and our penthouse and business rooms. Complimentary hard wire ethernet access is available in all guest rooms.

I attended a one-week course of UM so I booked Campus inn. It's luxurious and fancy with old-style European atmosphere. I thought I was in Prague in the every morning. The staff were friendly and the housekeeping was perfect. Here's some picture taken by DSLR. I was very suprised and grateful that even after I checked out, the staff still allow me using the men's sauna so that I can be refreshed to the airport..

I read the reviews before booking this hotel. As a result, I booked the top floor (premium price) and requested a room facing the back. We had no noise problems whatsoever, and it probably was overkill. Perhaps it is noisier when the University is in session. The city didn't seem very noisy for a city while we were there.

This is a lovely traditional hotel. I especially enjoyed the fountains inside of and outside of the lobby. Self-parking was easy. Our comfortable room was exactly what we requested. I ordered room service for breakfast, and it arrived right on time. I asked for a wake-up call, and it came at the right time. There were no problems with the bill. My impression was that this is a well-run hotel that should meet or exceed most expectations.

The decor is traditional, so those who like edgy will be disappointed. Our bathroom was a little dated but fully functional and clean.
