“Very good place - no longer the 'deal' it used to be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

I've been frequenting Prickly Pear since 1999 and have never had a bad experience. 15 years of quality service / product says a lot about a restaurant. The food is tasty, servings are exceptionally large @ dinner (making for a lunch the next day) and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Some of our favorite dishes are: fajitas, shrimp and scallop quesadillas, las enchiladas, & los chiles rellenos.

In the past, the Pear had, hands down, the best 'quality/price' relationship of any restaurant on Main Street. Recently, prices increased 30-40% and this is the only negative aspect of my review (keeping the restaurant from an 'excellent' rating). Dishes that were $15/16 are now $20/21 making dinners more in line with the generally overpriced offerings on Main Street. I imagine this has to do w/ rent prices in downtown (A2 is nuts!) so, in all fairness, this may be an unwarranted criticism of an otherwise jewel of a restaurant.

Having said all of this, Prickly Pear still serves a wonderful meal - it's just a little out of our price range for a regular visit. We will dine there less frequently but, if our last experience is any indication, the restaurant will continue to impress. For a special meal or someone visiting the city, it does not disappoint.

“Used to be better...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

Over the years we have enjoyed this restaurant, though last night the food tasted bland, the quality had suffered and we left distinctly disappointed. Unlikely to return.

“Great Little Place”

Nice place to stop in in downtown Ann Arbor. Food is good and service is pleasant. Nice "kitchy" atmosphere.

“Not sure about the southwest part”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

I did find an item on the menu that was southwest… but they have so many other items that aren't. The cafe is very small and you feel like you are sitting on top of one another and not much privacy. I thought it was good but I guess I was wanting "mexican" a little more than what I tasted.

“Wish I could visit this place more...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

I have eaten at here multiple times. Everytime the food has been just outstanding. Fresh, delicious and incomparable. Had the best buffalo meat I can remember and also the best butternut squash soup. This place rocks!
