“Superb Italian with modern twists”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Most recently we enjoyed a New Year's Eve dinner, as we have for several years.
Paesano's makes a special effort on NY Eve, and also does other holiday and special dinners - e.g. a Carnevale special and occasional wine tasting dinners.

I enjoyed an old standby - rigatoni with spicy greens and sausage-- a simple dish with a nice "bite". My wife had a special - a braised pork shank with a rich gravy and root vegetables.
Salads and soups were great, too.

The decor is simple and clean, and the noise level quiet to moderate.

Prices a a touch high for the area but the meals are always great.

“Inexperienced staff, disappointing experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

This is the third time in a row that I have had poor service at this restaurant. The food is not that great to deal with inexperienced staff. The waitress could not even describe the difference between a cup and bowl of soup! And then she would disappear for long periods of time. Plenty of other choices at this price point! If you order the Fall Pizza (appetizer) ask them to make sure the slices are cut since the utensil they gave was utterly useless and dull. If the waitress was observant we could have asked her for a sharp knife - but she was no where to be found.

“Great Food but a little on the Pricey Side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Our first night back at Ann Arbor and we headed to Paisano's on the recommendation of hotel staff and our "UrbanSpoon" app. We dined late say 730p EST Friday and were led right in by the hostess. Contrary to the comments here Paisano's is as the name implies, more influenced by Italian flavor than Afghani?

This is a white table cloth restaurant but attire can be casual....jeans were common and no dress code was posted. They seem to concentrate and push "Wine"....a matter of fact they have a rather extensive list of affordable wines. You're sure to find something to tempt your palate....ours was the ruris at 9 a glass.

Menus change with the seasons. Food fare is definitely Italian cuisine based with some contemporary eclectic influences. Fore example, I had the "Chianti Stained Parpadelle with Wild Boar Ragu" $22 while the wife had the "Seasonal Salmon over Asparagus and Cheese Rositti" $22. Both were fantastic. The restaurant holds to European sizing for portions where sizes are smaller but quality higher. Both entré's were served with exceptional salad's from local garden's giving a wonderful fresh flavor.

We rounded out the night with Tiramisu and Blackberry cake $7.50 ..both which were great.

Bottom line....the food was great...but at a final dinner price for two of $94, I'd like to see more value. Its still a great place and atmosphere for that special date or special event dinner.

Staff was great, roving serenade...
