This hotel had the fastest and easiest check in I have ever experienced! The pool has a great kiddie area with mini water slide, etc... and water basketball. Not a really good pool for older kids or adults as it doesn't have a huge "deep end". I suggest going for the breakfast package which includes the buffet as it gives kids for free. They have ham, etc but they do not give you a list of what they have before you go up (you have to have everything made for you). No free personal products except the standard shampoo, conditioner and soap. Overall a great hotel

Excellent hospitality. Very friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Clean facility and rooms. Great breakfast and service. Will definitely visit this hotel in the future should my travels take me again to Ann Arbor.

We really appreciated the great staff and the dining options. Coming in on the plane from out of town, we were very happy to find the restaurant still serving dinner till 10pm; with servers that were still perky even though it was very late for them. We had breakfast as well twice during our stay, and had omelettes cooked to order. The bacon is so-so but the sausage is very good.
Beds were very comfy, the room was clean, and the temperature in the room was adjustable. It is true that if you get an active bunch upstairs, you can hear it pretty clearly. We solved that problem by being exhausted and going to bed despite the noise.
This hotel is located south of the University of Michigan stadium, so if you are headed north you may run into a LOT of traffic. That's really the only negative.
There are a lot of good hotel choices in Ann Arbor -- this is definitely one of them!

Room Tip: Try to stay on a floor where no one is living above you.

This is a good-looking property, although the overall experience is not as wonderful as some of the reviews make it out to be (I am always suspicious of reviews by users who have contributed only one review on Trip Advisor).

First off, you will hear footsteps throughout your stay if someone is staying in the room above you. This can be annoying late at night, to say the least.

Most of the staff seem great, but the young lady who checked me in (I won't call her out by name) did not acknowledge my existence for almost 20 seconds when I walked up to check in at the desk (which is actually an awkward amount of time if you think about it), did not offer me my supposedly free bottles of water (I’m a Silver HHonors member), and didn’t smile once. Humph! Bad day, I guess.

The next morning housekeeping knocked on my door at 8:24am even though I HAD THE ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ SIGN CLEARLY HANGING ON MY DOOR HANDLE. I was more or less awake, but still.

Again, the property is in very good shape and offers the typical Hilton Garden Inn décor. The sound insulation is suspect (at least in the ceiling), but other than that I have no complaints.

This property offers very easy access to I-94 (but *no* freeway noise), and is walking distance to the Briarwood Mall (it's basically in the mall parking lot).

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 4th floor; if not, expect to hear footsteps above you for the duration of y...

This hotel could easily be four-stars but the buffet is a problem.
The facility is up to date, very clean and has delightful grounds. They are located about two miles from the U of M and really get into game day festivities. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They also provide above average coffee with flavorings; a nice touch. Unfortunately, one of the bottles was empty and the other close to the same state. There was also a nice selection of teas.
The eggs at the buffet are below what you would find in a Fairfield Inn and the cantaloupe was sour. However, the French toast was decent. They do provide free coffee and tea. We had a teenager with us who normally refills his plate three times. He went up once and left food on his plate. Also on a positive note, the service was very good.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the gardens.

First time having to stay in a hotel after graduating from the University of Michigan, strange feeling--but Hilton Garden Inn was in full Michigan spirit and a great place to stay. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, staying here definitely made the trip a complete success.
