Zingerman's bakehouse is located in an industrial park, but once you enter their facility you see it is a busy, large bakery specializing in breads of all types. My favorite is the Paesano, crusty on the outside, elastic, moist and chewy on the inside and baked everyday at about 2 pm. All of the breads have their unique appeal, and their pretzel rolls are really good as well. The pies, cakes and other items are very expensive, but dependably good. Soups taste like home made, and are fairly reasonably priced.
There is a lot of hype around Zingerman's, which allows them to charge a premium price, but the quality of most of their products is unquestionable. In the case of their breads, they have brought really good bread to the masses.
This is not a restaurant, it is a bread bakery that also has cakes, pies, sandwiches, etc. There is no place to sit inside, just some picnic tables outside. I would classify it more as a carry out. Primarily it is a bread bakery, with a big window where you can look in to see the bakers in action. They also offer classes.
