Been here lots of times for a quick lunch, but just recently took my boyfriend here for the first time. We were on our way to a Michigan hockey game and pressed for time, but I knew here we would get good burgers/fries and a nice beer selection and still get out quickly.
What I recommend is the Build Your Own burger option. If you fill out the little checklist of selections they have on your table with the pencils they also leave on your table, your server will not ask you "20 questions" as others have mentioned. You pick your bun, your burger type, large (double) or small (single), any special sauces and toppings you want. Most are free. You can also check off which type of fry you want: french fries or sweet potato chips (fresh-fried). It's not a big deal if you know what you're doing and it's kind of fun. I was never asked what kind of ketchup or mustard I wanted. The service IS attentive, to some perhaps overly so, but I would rather that than "where the heck is my server?" all the time.
I usually get a single (the double, if you plan to get lots of toppings, is pretty big) and we split getting fries and sweet potato chips. If you don't want the special sauces on your burger, ask for some anyway as a unique fry dip. I love the Sante Fe Chipotle Sauce. It's sticky sweet with a honey-ish flavor and just a bit spicy. Yummy on the sweet potato chips!
If you need a place that's fast, has good food, beer, and is loud enough not to care if your kids are too, give Bagger Dave's a shot. If you don't like to make decisions, don't like your waiters checking on you frequently, or prefer to get your burger the way the kitchen sends it out for everyone else, then you may prefer somewhere else. We, however, love it and plan to take the kids with us the next time.
