“Great Place and great people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2008

We stayed here when visiting Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. We were impressed by how easy it was to get to the museum from the hotel. The staff was great and very helpful with directions and suggestions for restaurants. The beds were the most comfortable we ever slept in (memory foam). The only drawback is the furnishings could use a little updating, but we were happy and will stay again.

  • Liked — Easy access to Greenfield Village
  • Disliked — Can't park close to room.

Stayed at the Greenfield Inn for three nights 4/08 and were suprised how large the room was, we stayed in room 177 which was near Enterprise drive. Not too much traffic noise even with the hotel's close proximity to I-94.

While the furnishings were a bit outdated, we had no problems whatsoever, the bed was extremely comfortable and the room exceptionly clean. There was a mini fridge which we didn't use, free wireless which we did use and it performed great.

We didn't eat at O'Henrys (the hotel restaurant) though... There is a newer shopping mall directly across I-94 with plenty of options for casual dining ...Chili's, Panera bread etc , I think the mall is called Fairlane Green, there were also the normal assortment of stores in the mall so if you forgot something you could get it at Target etc.

All in all the Greenfield Inn met our expectations for price, comfort and convenience!

We stayed here for just one night prior to departure to Miami. Front desk staff was welcoming. The hotel was very clean, decor was definately out-dated, but rooms were cozy. The beds were extremely comfortable. We used the indoor jacuzzi. Not so romantic. There were screaming kids all around us. I guess it was to be expected, it was around Spring break. The jacuzzi itself was relaxing.

Restaurant on site was good. Breakfast out did dinner & was also more expensive. Not a very healthy selection of food, but you are on vacation:) The staff was very friendly and the service was efficient.
You are able to leave your car here on site for free when travelling.Parking lot is safe and well monitored. They do have a shuttle to the airport. It is about 20 minutes. The only downfall is that the shuttle only runs from 7:00am to 11:00pm. So if you arrive or depart out of this time frame, you need to fnd your own transportation to and from the aiport. Shuttle driver Butch was very friendly.
Definately would stay here again.

  • Liked — Comfy beds, cozy room, and bubbly, hot jacuzzi.
  • Disliked — The shuttle was available on our return flight.

After driving by this hotel for a number of years on our way to Detroit Metro Airport we decided to give it a try as an alternative to the "Park n' Fly" airport hotels. In past we have always stayed at a hotel in the general vicinity of the airport, however, on this trip we needed to leave our vehicle for 12 days. All of the airport hotels contacted only had parking "offsite" for 7 days maximum with a charge for any additional days. None of the hotels in the airport area (Romulus) allow you to leave your vehicle on their premises, instead they contract out parking to one of the many independent parking lots which means being on a crowed bus to and from the airport with everyone else.

My initial contact by phone with the Best Western was extremely positive with the desk clerk being very friendly and helpful in making reservations. Reservations were done quickly and best of all we were allowed to leave our vehicle on their supervised lot for the entire 12 days free of charge. They have a shuttle bus that operates from 7:00 AM until 9:00 PM daily. The drive to the airport is less than 20 minutes and considering you would probably be the only person in the van it is in my opinion quicker and more efficient than driving around the large parking lot picking up people at their cars. It is like having your own personal limo service. When you arrive from your destination there is a direct phone line in the baggage claim area to the hotel and by time you find the pickup area the van is there waiting for you.
The other nice thing is that the hotel is situated right on I-94 with easy ramps on and off and it is that much closer to downtown Detroit. The bonus feature of the location is that there are no airplanes coming and going all hours of the day.

The Best Western Greenfield is in an excellent location, just minutes away from the Henry Ford Museum, IMAX and the upscale Fairlane Town Centre Mall. Right across I-94 there is a huge "big box" shopping centre recently built with numerous stores and restaurants.

The motel itself is extremely comfortable with an impressive foyer lined with antique furnishings and vehicle memorabilia. The restaurant and bar area is first class with the food and decor tastefully done especially the "library" room. Highly recommend the pizzas. You do not need to dine out of the hotel. The prices are low compared to some of the restaurants in the area.

We were given a nice sized room with a king sized bed upgrade at no extra charge. Even though the room faced the interstate, we were not able to hear even the trucks rolling by as the hotel is very well built with extra thick windows and insulation. The bed was typical Best Western quality with 8 pillows of different sizes and thickness. There even is a small B & W TV in the bathroom along with a telephone. There was also a separate makeup vanity outside the bathroom which also houses a small bar fridge. The rooms vary in size from standard to suites. Ours was most comfortable and very quiet, not like the paper-thin rooms at the airport motels. The indoor pool is large and also has a nice patio area, large hot tub and sauna. The only drawback to the pool area is the strong chlorine odor, they need a better venting system. The smell is restricted only to the pool area.

The vehicle park area is right across from front desk and is in a secure section at night. We had no issues when picking up the car on our return.

In all our stay there was very positive and we will use this facility from now on for our airport excursions. The price was very reasonable and the staff very friendly and efficient.

While this is our favorite place to stay when in the Detroit area, we were a little disappointed in the room this time. While clean the bathroom was showing wear. The bottom of the bathroom door had been patched to keep the veneer from peeling off, there was a small amount of mildew on the grout for the tile around the tub. In the room proper the wallpaper seams were starting to lift. Just generally showing its age. From the storage containers and dumpsters in the parking lot it appears that remodeling may be going on.

I've driven by the hotel hundreds of times over the past few years. How odd.. a pink Best Western Hotel that looks like a castle on the side of I-94 on an isolated industrial/commercial street.
I live about 30 miles away and needed a night out. I booked a room for one night and promptly checked in at 3:00 pm. When me and my girlfriend entered the room it smelled of smoke and had an ashtray and matches sitting on the table. We had reserved a non-smoking room.
I called the front desk and the clerk apologized and said that a non-smoking suite was available.
We paid little attention when we picked up the new room key and were stunned when we opened the door to our new room. The Jefferson Suite was fabulous. There was a king sized bed, so soft, with 6 fluffy white pillows. The bathroom was normal except for the TV (black and white) mounted next to the mirror and the phone opposite the toilet (not used but unusual). We had a separate living room with a loveseat and an UNBELIEVABLE massage chair. This chair had my girlfriend in it's clutches for the first hour and a half that we were there. It even massaged her feet and calf muscles.
The room was very quiet, we always bring a fan for background noise just in case but it wasn't needed.
The hotel is very large and sprawling. Despite the location we always felt very secure. There are not many pedestrians of any sort in this area. No low income housing or other attractions.
We'll be back ...as long as we get the Jefferson Suite.

Recently, I had the chance to stay at this Best Western with a friend. He was picking up a vintage automobile in the metro Detroit area, and had asked me along for the ride.

I can understand why a foreign traveler without a rental car might find the location of this hotel bizarre. For the typical American tourist, the location is anything but. This hotel is a straightforward drive from the adjoining interstate highway, and has excellent proximity to Detroit's downtown area, the various Ford industrial complexes, and to the Henry Ford museum complex in Dearborn. In my case, the location was even better, as one of my relatives lives perhaps five minutes from this hotel. We had no issues parking a pickup truck and trailer, but I wouldn't want to do that during tourist season. I suspect it would be much more difficult. The parking lot has a gate across the second exit at night.

As the name implies, the lobby is that of an inn, rather than that of a hotel. The decor includes lots of old-school woodwork. Staff at the front desk were both efficient and prompt, providing hot cookies in the afternoon. There's also a machine for free coffee and tea in the lobby available 24/7 -- a nice touch indeed. The staff will also turn your business card into a luggage tag. Prints of vintage cars dominated the hallways on the first floor.

Our room was well appointed, and well insulated against the noise of the interstate. I couldn't hear trucks grinding by, perhaps 50 to 70 yards from the room. We had a room with two queen beds, each with lots of pillows (I didn't count.). Room curtains pretty much blacked out the room, which impressed me. The furniture looked fairly recent. The room TV is in a hutch. Management also appears to have made some renovations to the bathrooms, installing new sinks and indirect lighting. On the other hand, the older tubs appear to have been left in place (the ones that included the clothesline that pulls across for hanging wet clothes -- not a fault, IMO). The showerhead in our room worked well.

One pleasant surprise was dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The food was good, prices were on par or slightly cheaper than the major chain restaurants, and portions appeared to be larger by comparison. My friend and I had excellent steaks for dinner one night. On a lesser note, the kitchen closed down at 9:00p. We observed some disappointed travelers at the bar, who received delivery coupons for mentioning hunger, and complaining of a closed kitchen. The bar served generous drinks, but shut down at midnight on a Friday night, even with a crowd still wanting to hang out and spend money. One part of the bar has a library-type atmosphere, with leather sofas, subdued lighting, and a big-screen television.

About the only thing to complain about was service at breakfast on a Saturday morning. It seemed somewhat slow, but again, the prices were very competitive and the portions generous. The waitress seemed overwhelmed. Overall, our stay was pleasant.

I'm not sure whether I'd call this hotel a gem, but it certainly might be a fresh, crisp $100 bill.
