“Very friendly B&B in Sucre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2011

We etxtended our stay at this hostal for a couple of days. We loved the rooms, breakfast and tehe Belgium owner! We changed rooms during our stay and both rooms were clean, big and furnitered with good quality beds.
The breakfast is great. The owner very friendly and service oriented. And it was ver interesting to chat about Bolivia with him.
There is no heating in the bedrooms. The casa is only 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the plaza in Sucre.

we loved our 5 nights at Casa Verde. Rene keeps the place immaculately clean, the beds are super comfy, and it's great to have the use of a kitchen. He gave us a discount as we opted not to have the breakfast every day, although we did treat ourselves to it on the final day and it was delicious.

Casa Verde is probably the best accommodation we have stayed in in over 3 months in south america. The owner, Rene from Belgium, is very friendly and helpful and has built a beautiful guesthouse in a very beautiful city.

Breakfast was excellent, the room was big, lovely wooden floors and ceiling beams with clean and spacious ensuite. The cherry on the cake is that he teaches carpentary to groups of underpriviledged local young people who create fantastic wooden furniture that can be found around the guesthouse.

Highly recommended for a peaceful stay in Sucre

Casa Verde is 4 blocks from the main plaza and 4 blocks from the Recoleta mirador. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. (hint: the key opens the front door) The rooms were good size although the walls are thin. But no problem as there are no party kids. The breakfast included was good with real coffee, eggs, bacon, cereal and rolls. Only 10 minutes to the bus terminal and close enough to everything. The only bad thing was no wifi in the rooms but there was no problems in the courtyard and dining area. A great choice for relaxation.

Two of us stayed four nights at Casa Verde and it was like visiting the house of a friend. Rene, the owner makes you feel very much at home, is helpful with practical tips for seeing sights, getting taxis, places to eat, etc. Full breakfast and open kitchen for making snacks, tea, etc. Beds are new, towels big, room and baths clean and lots of hot water. Short walk from the Plaza and close to a number of excellent museums. Look for the off-white, slightly tinted green entrance on Potosi Street and you can't go wrong for the price! Eugenio

We stayed at Casa Verde for four nights and were so happy that we chose this hostel after reading all the good reviews. Rene, the Belgian owner, is a lovely host. He told us about the life in Bolivia, the people and the culture so we could imagine what the country is going through.
We had a very spacious room and especially the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was also good.
Overall it was great value and we would definitely stay again at Casa Verde. Highly recommended!

I echo what all of the other reviews say below. My husband and I arrived from Potosi and intended to stay in Sucre just a few days and stayed an entire week. Coming to Casa Verde is like coming home, especially after a few days of getting through the salt flats. Rene is an absolute gem. So smiley, friendly, happy and helpful...how a host should be. The rooms were comfortable and big, with comfy beds and private baths. The shared spaces were welcoming and relaxing. By far the best deal in town with the best location (just 2 blocks from the square, but nice and quiet so you will get a good night sleep). There's free Wifi and the use of the kitchen. Breakfasts were amazing--always with eggs and bacon, bread, fresh juice and real coffee. I'm shocked the guidebooks haven't found out about Casa Verde--it might be a good thing they haven't as it would be impossible to get a room. I can't recommend it enough. Gracias Rene!
