We stayed for one night in this Hacienda, but wished we had realised how much both it and Pototsi had to offer, and we would have stayed much longer. The Hacienda is beautiful, and is looked after by the devoted Arturo who has spent years renovating the buildings and cataloguing and displaying the many treasures the family has amassed from 500 years of history passing through the area and the house.
Arturo and his staff made us extremely welcome, and as we only had the one night he gave us a two hour tour of the house, library, gallery of military history and other remarkable rooms including very old clothes, books and furniture.
The rooms are very comfortable, we particularly liked the wood burning stove which it was lovely to hear crackling as we fell asleep.
The Hacienda is about 35 minutes from Pototsi by taxi, which cost about $8. The taxi journey itself is through very attractive countryside. Arturo has a reliable local taxi driver who took us early in the morning to Pototsi for a silver mine tour.
A real experience!
